Putting our suburbs first: Lord Mayor

Budget Snapshot

Our suburbs are the places we spend most of our time living, working, relaxing and making the most of Brisbane’s fantastic lifestyle. We’re continuing to make them even better through our Suburbs First Guarantee, where more than 80% of what we do will continue to be directed towards our suburbs. Suburbs First means investing in improving our 5000 kilometre-long footpath network and connecting our suburbs through road projects including the Moggill Road Corridor Upgrade in the west, the Beams Road upgrade in the north and the Gardner Road improvement in the south.

BETTER SUBURBS $3.4 Billion

It means delivering our Sun Safe Suburban Playgrounds program, new parks for growing suburbs like Pallara and Rochedale, and more support for our sports clubs that are the backbone of our community. It also means planning for the future by delivering the fully electric, turn-up-and-go Brisbane Metro, the Kangaroo Point and Breakfast Creek green bridges and Victoria Park / Baramabin’s transformation. While we focus on rebuilding after the devastating February floods, my guarantee is we will continue to invest record amounts in our suburbs to deliver for Brisbane’s 1.2 million residents.
