PILOT UNIT IN THE CONTEXT OF INDUSTRY
High precision environement for large scale innovations. The Pilot Process Unit uses modules and technologies that are standardly used in the food and beverage industries. As a research and development platform, it guarantees the results of the process and output, which can be repeated and up-scaled to any production level. The Pilot Membrane Unit is an advanced and mobile platform offering a safe environment for product prototyping, product development, process development, and process testing. The unit is modularly built and flexible as it enables a wide range of configurations that are common in the food and beverage industries. It is compatibile with all relevant industrial module producers. And it is reliable by ensuring the predictable up-scaling of the proffered configuration. The unit gives process developers the freedom to maximize the benefits of processes that are based on membrane filtration. It was designed to be ultimative tool to develop and make new products.
4
The unit uses standard industrial modules, industrial-sized spiral wound and ceramic membrane modules, and equipment for heating and cooling according to the desired specification. Samples can be taken at any stage of the process. The unit is designed as a small-scale production system and is fully compatible with industrial standards, technologies, and processes. Throughout any given trial, the process conditions (for example, the flow rate, pressure or temperature) are monitored and documented. Achieved end-results are independently proven to be reproducible with optimal precision and give solid foundations for safely up-scaling to any planned production level.
MODULES AND FEATURES
Configure, measure, reconfigure. Repeat until the results are perfect. The Pilot Process Unit provides industrial stakeholders with tangible benefits during research, development and up-scaling operations for all known filtering processes. Its simple yet effective design focuses on the modularity of a unit, the measurability of each and every dimension within the process, and on the reliability of the results. The unit contains all instruments and software required to reduce the risk of an up-scale failure. Due to the unit’s innovative design, fewer sources are needed for successful development – even compared to other pilot systems.
The unit is designed with a high level of hygienic design and is compatible with the level used in dairy production systems. As a result, the unit design complies with all major recommendations (like 3A Sanitary Standards or EHEDG).

BENEFITS
Made to bring a difference to your process The Pilot Process Unit provides industry players with tangible benefits during research, development and up-scaling operations. As a powerful testing tool, it gives an opportunity for business growth by optimizing products and processes. The flexibility that comes with the unit’s modular design means the needs of process owners are met more precisely, more cost effectively and within shorter time frames. It elevates the organization’s competence to successfully predict needs, specifications and results while developing its production facilities. In doing so, the unit shortens the time needed to kick-start new production lines, makes installation phases more controllable and ultimately shortens the time to market. The overall effect is a significant reduction of losses in all relevant areas. The unit’s set-up is universally applicable over the whole spectrum of food and beverage processes that use membrane filtering. With it, one can produce any given product by using various liquid media. It can be used as a small-scale production facility, as a mobile production and prototyping unit, or for producing a small-scale model which can be flexibly up-scaled to the optimal production level. The ordered modules and their technology can be flexibly changed, as can all the parameters during different production process stages. The unit is
effectively controlled and monitored through simple and clear command and display sections. Since cleaning is the key challenge in the filtering process, the unit offers all key features that enable the optimal cleaning procedure to be developed. It makes cleaning trials with various qualities of water and different cleaning concentrates possible. The pilot unit’s design is a reflection of the excellent plant knowledge of an experienced process engineering team. It contains all sensors, pumps, piping elements and control equipment to successfully run microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nano filtration and reverse osmosis without restriction. In every project, Brinox brings in the experience and expertise from successful food and beverage production sites across Europe, including Russia. As a specialist in automated hygienic processing systems for all types of liquids, the company holds all the distinguished references and valuable resources required in the concept, installation, trial, and production phases. 11
