La Carne at 88th Avenue in Banilad, Cebu City. is a Filipino-owned premium meat butchery brand, founded in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Thanks to La Carne, Cebuanos and expatriates residing in Cebu can now enjoy premium beef and lamb, traceable to top producers in the US and Australia, complemented by expert butchery services and delivery across the province of Cebu.

La Carne is the first and only multibrand retail store and family butchery licensed by Certified Angus Beef USA and Meat and Livestock Australia under its “True Aussie Beef and Lamb” brand offering meat with no antibiotics and no added hormones.

Jovy Tuaño, CEO of Asia Gulf Companies, founded the butchery brand in 2014 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. After much success serving the UAE community premium meat to their homes, Mr. Tuaño decided to open La Carne’s first flagship store outside of the UAE in Cebu.

Opening in his hometown is an homage to his mother, Thelma Lluch Badelles from Iligan City, who started a homebased meat business in the late ‘70s on Jakosalem Street, Cebu City before venturing into food service with Julie Gandionco (the founder of the popular Julie’s Bakeshop in the Philippines).

Although opening a store during the Covid-19 pandemic may be puzzling to some, Mr. Tuaño believed it was precisely the best time to open a business and serve the Cebu community with a premium commodity as people spent more time at home, exploring their kitchens and cooking skills.

La Carne aims to add to the existing butchery ecosystem in Cebu and enable residents to enjoy a premium steak experience at home by being a source of education in addition to culinary solutions and expert butchery services like roast tying, sausage making, fine butcher slicing, and knife sharpening.

Visiting the La Carne store provides a transparent view into how meat is prepared with love and care, as the butchery is mostly open and butchers can be watched as they prepare orders à la minute. The selection of beef and lamb offered at La Carne has been curated by butchers with more than 70 years combined experience in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Singapore, and the Philippines. The steak and burger selection is trusted by meat lovers from around the world, particularly from the Americas, Europe and Asia.

The La Carne Steak Bar was launched in January 2022, where seasonal ingredients are paired with La Carne’s butcher cuts in a casual setting. Delivery is available throughout the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and from north Liloan to south Talisay on the same and next day.
