September 2 - 8 ARIES – Mar 21/Apr 20 You are on a roll, Aries, and now it is just a matter of maintaining the momentum for a few more days. Don't let anyone slow you down this week. TAURUS – April 21/May 21 Taurus, there are many opportunities within your reach, but you are not sure which way to go. Seek advice from Sagittarius when you get a spare moment. GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21 Others can see you haven't been yourself lately, Gemini. So relax and take a break from something that's been bothering you, and you will return to being your old self. You won't be disappointed. CANCER – June 22/July 22 Now is not the time for dawdling, Cancer. You have a full plate of things to tackle and it seems like the hours will be slipping away. Recharge and get focused. LEO – July 23/August 23 Leo, don't let anyone discourage you when tackling a big project. As you have proven time and again, you simply need to establish a goal and your efforts will help you achieve it. VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22 Virgo, though you may not know where your path will lead this week, you are deeply aware that an adventure is in store. Take some time to prepare your mind and body. LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23 Libra, no one will know who you truly are unless you share a few secrets. You don't have to give everything away, but allow others in by sharing some personal information. SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22 Scorpio, though you don't shy away from challenges, you do know when to pick your battles. When something inconsequential comes up this week, let it pass. SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21 Sagittarius, when a past conflict resurfaces this week, push it aside because that is ancient history. It is better to focus on the positive things that are in store for you. CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20 Capricorn, when you love someone, it can be difficult to step aside and let this person make his or her own choices. But this is what you have to do for lessons to be learned. AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18 Your eyes are bigger than your stomach at work this week, Aquarius. Delegate some tasks so everything goes smoothly and your project is completed on time. PISCES – Feb 19/Mar20 Learning from your weaknesses can help you to grow stronger, Pisces. Accept a challenge that is presented this week, even if it scares you.

September 9 - 15

September 16 - 22

September 23 - 29

ARIES – Mar 21/Apr 20

Aries, you will bring creativity and originality to a project at work this week. Working with people comes easy to you, so put your ingenuity to good use. TAURUS – April 21/May 21 Taurus, you are entering a creative phase and others will admire and appreciate your work. But don't allow the extra attention to go to your head. Be humble at every turn. GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21 There are plenty of opportunities for communicating your ideas this week, Gemini. Expect quite a few meetings and other social occasions where you can discuss things with others. CANCER – June 22/July 22 Cancer, you have a basic idea of how you want to handle your finances, but you are open to suggestions, too. Consult with a professional if you are considering making major changes. LEO – July 23/August 23 Your ability to supervise and organize people makes you unique, Leo. This role will become central to your lifestyle for the next few days as you tackle new responsibilities at work. VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22 Virgo, opportunities to advance your career present themselves, but you are not sure if you are ready for a bigger role. Seek advice from trusted colleagues. LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23 Libra, recreational activities are ideal ways for you to keep in shape and reduce stress over the course of the week. You could feel your troubles melt away. SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22 Scorpio, you have a great interest in business and making career decisions that will work for you. That new venture you have been pondering takes a big step forward. SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21 Interactions with coworkers could feel a little strained, Sagittarius. Make a few adjustments to remedy any uncomfortable situations. Take stock of your working relationships. CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20 Capricorn, your drive for independence is very obvious to others this week. However, your determination could also put you in an unpredictable mood. AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18 This is a good time to take a deep breath and lighten up your load and your feelings, Aquarius. Tell some jokes or go out for a social occasion. You'll be thankful you did. PISCES – Feb 19/Mar20 People often sense that you can have your head on straight, Pisces. So don't be surprised when you are asked for advice.

Aries, your goals are easily achieved this week. All you really need to do is set your mind to them and everything will fall into place along the way. TAURUS – April 21/May 21 Taurus, you may feel rushed by outside pressures, but it really is up to you to set your own pace. Everything will get done if you just relax.

Aries, relaxing for a few days seems like the perfect idea, but restlessness will ultimately thwart these plans. Engage in low-energy activities, instead. TAURUS – April 21/May 21 Taurus, you might find it difficult to ask for what you desire, but you just have to buckle down and make a stand. It may not be easy, but your efforts will prove fruitful. GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21 Gemini, you are in your element this week and the good vibes will last for several days. There's no pressure to get things done, so keep on sailing. CANCER – June 22/July 22 Cancer, it may seem like a good idea to retreat to a fantasy world when the going gets tough, but you'll need to have your feet and mind firmly planted in reality this week. LEO – July 23/August 23 Leo, it is good to be optimistic, but it also helps to develop a plan in case things don't go your way. Ask a friend or family member for help when devising your plan. VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22 Virgo, concentration comes naturally to you, so don't worry if some extra work at the office is presented at the last minute. Ask a coworker for help, if necessary. LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23 You are eager to listen and learn, Libra, but you also want to share your own experiences. This week you will need to find a balance between being a student and a teacher. SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22 Scorpio, think things through before making big decisions. There is some pressure on you, but concentrate and focus on the task at hand. SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21 Make some decisions now before you change your mind again, Sagittarius. Too much information can cloud your judgement, so go with your gut. CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20 Capricorn, you are at a turning point in your life and it could be a good time to make a few important changes. This may involve a new career or making new friends. AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18 Aquarius, even if you have a lot to get done, you will be able to think on your feet and make changes as needed depending on the situation this week. PISCES – Feb 19/Mar20 Actively explore your impulses in the next few days, Pisces. You may not have the opportunity to do so later on.

GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21 Those closest to you need a little space and respect, Gemini. Just give them what they need and all will go smoothly. Wednesday could be a trying day.

CANCER – June 22/July 22 Cancer, you may need to act quickly before things start moving in the wrong direction. You have to take control and make sure things are on the right course.

LEO – July 23/August 23 Leo, you can have fun doing just about anything this week. You have lots of energy, so maybe something physical will fit the bill. Grab a crowd and go to it.

VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22 Virgo, things have not been going your way, but that is no reason to be disappointed. You will soon find a way to bounce back and get back on track.

LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23 Libra, this week you have the uncanny ability to impress people in one-on-one conversation. Start by focusing all of your energy on one particular relationship.

SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22 Scorpio, it's time to assess your health and make a few changes for the better. It's within reason to change your diet and exercise more often. It will be to your advantage.

SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21 Sagittarius, you will find you're incredibly efficient this week, both at home and at work. If you have time left over, you may want to help a coworker or family member.

CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20 Capricorn, both work and family issues are on your mind, but you can only tackle one set of concerns at a time. Figure out which one is a priority and set your wheels in motion.

AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18 Aquarius, you are likely to feel amazing this week, so much so that you actually do a double-take in the mirror to make sure it's you looking back. Savor every moment.

PISCES – Feb 19/Mar20 Pisces, you may have some trouble figuring out what is real and what's a facade this week. Others can provide backup if you need it.

A Plan For Managing Diabetes And Weight (NAPSA)-There’s good news for those with diabetes. Many feel they must choose between maintaining a healthy weight and managing their glucose levels. A new book says that it’s possible to do both. Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator Jill Weisenberger has created a handbook with a one-year plan to help people with diabetes reach their weight-loss goals.

Henry Dunster was named president of Harvard College in 1640. He taught all the courses himself. *** A beaver can hold its breath for about 45 minutes. *** During his lifetime, Herman Melville’s “Moby-Dick” sold only 50 copies. *** A good conversationalist is not one who remembers what was said but says what someone wants to remember —John Mason Brown *** Texas is known for its oil, but the state is also a leading wind energy producer, with win projects generating over 1,200 megawatts. *** Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.. —Dale Carnegie

Author Jill Weisenberger says it’s possible for those with diabetes to control their glucose levels and lose weight. The book, “Diabetes Weight LossWeek by Week: A Safe, Effective Method for Losing Weight and Improving Your Health,” is published by the American Diabetes Association. It discusses calories, keeping a food log, understanding carbs, introducing physical activity, and understanding what limitations you may have due to certain medications. In addition to work sheets and action steps, the book also contains tips on how to halt negative self-talk, tame nighttime nibbles and conquer cravings. To learn more or to order, call (800) 232-6455 or visit www.dia betes.org/weightloss.

“Bottom fishing” is financial slang for picking stocks that are reduced in price after a large selloff or drop in the market. •••

*** Wheat is thought to be the most widely grown plant in the world. It has been cultivated for more than 7,000 years in every continent except Antarctica. *** The nickel coin contains only 26 percent actual nickel.

FUN BY THE NUMBERS Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test! HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle.

“Competitive” Bidding May Hurt Seniors

(NAPSA)-Many Americans are taking their health care into their own hands in a surprising way. They’re calling Congress at (202) 224-3121 and asking their representatives what’s being done about Medicare’s bidding program for durable medical equipment and services. This type of equipment, which includes oxygen, hospital beds and wheelchairs, helps to keep seniors and people with disabilities safe and independent at home. The Many people have found that a budget can current system has alarmed patients make handling finances easier and a reload- and policy experts alike. able prepaid card can help.

(NAPSA)-From summer travel to back-to-school season, many Americans find it challenging to budget for special purchases. Thinking of your next big purchase or just wanting to better manage your everyday spending? Here are five tips to help you stick to a budget: 1. Set prioritiesMap out your basic needs and go from there. If you commute 10 miles to work, having money for gas is much more important than, say, a premium cable TV package. But once you set your priorities, re-evaluate them every couple of weeks. 2. Reduce, don’t deprive-Part of any budget is managing the everyday luxuries-from a favorite magazine to the occasional night out. It’s important to set a budget for these purchases based on what you can afford, but don’t deprive yourself. We’re all human-and completely cutting out simple pleasures like these can set you up for failure. 3. Track progress-Regularly measure how things are going. It helps you understand where you need to make adjustments and can give you a sense of gratification when you’re staying on track. If it’s your first time making a budget, don’t be surprised if you fall short of your goals-like with anything, practice makes perfect. 4. Think DIY-One of the easiest ways to save money is to take a “do-it-yourself” approach to things you enjoy. Think long term: If you are a coffee lover, upgrading your in-home equipment may come with costs, but it can save you money in the long run to make those lattes at home instead of paying $4 a cup at the coffee shop. 5. Budget and manage your money smartly-Find a way to manage your money in a way that works for you. While some con-

sumers keep cash budgeted for restaurants, movies and other fun activities in separate envelopes each month, there are also more secure options available-from savings accounts with automatic contributions each month or reloadable prepaid cards that ensure you don’t spend more than you have. “More and more Americans are looking for new financial products and services that help them manage money on their terms,” said Ryan McInerney, CEO of Chase Consumer Banking. “We’ve recently introduced Chase LiquidSM, a reloadable card that offers customers control, flexibility and convenience-it’s low-cost, and FDIC-insured.” Chase Liquid, which can be used anywhere Visa(r) is accepted, has a flat monthly fee of $4.95 with no additional charge to refill the card with cash or checks at Chase’s 10,500 DepositFriendlySM ATMs and 5,500 branches nationwide. Customers can also withdraw cash at no additional charge at all of Chase’s 17,500 ATMs and 5,500 branches nationwide. There are no overdraft fees and no minimum balances to maintain the accountonly an initial deposit of $25. In addition, customers can check their balances for no additional fee at Chase’s ATMs, telephone, branches, online, via text or e-mail, or by speaking with a customer service representative.

Two dozen patient groups and hundreds of experts have urged Congress to stop the Medicare bidding program and find other ways to save money. Durable or home medical equipment and services also help control health care spending by preventing costly stays in emergency rooms, hospitals and nursing homes. Hundreds of patients, however, say Medicare’s bidding program makes it harder to get medically required equipment and limits the choices of equipment and providers. A recent study in The Quarterly Journal of Economics found that the system “fails to generate competitive prices of goods and fails to satisfy demand.” More about this issue and home care in general is at the American Association for Homecare site: http://action.aahomecare.org.

Know What’s Below (NAPSA)-You may be able to save yourself time, trouble and money the next time you need to dig in your yard or out in the community if you remember three numbers: 811. Calling them will get you to a free service that sends an expert to mark where all underground lines, pipes and cables lie.

Before installing a mailbox, planting a tree or doing any other digging project, first call 811 to find out what’s underground. The U.S. has 2.6 million miles of pipeline running underground that delivers most of the energy used to heat, cool and operate American homes, cars and businesses. In some instances, these lines are just 12 inches below the surface. You could be in harm’s way if you don’t know just what is below. “Excavation damage is a leading cause of serious pipeline incidents, with someone digging and hitting a pipeline without knowing what was below,” said Cynthia Quarterman, administrator of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
