November 18 - 24

ARIES – Mar 21/Apr 20

Wonderful things can happen when you really don't expect them, Aries. You may experience a pleasant surprise in the next several days, so be on the lookout for excitement. TAURUS – April 21/May 21 Taurus, you may have to juggle a few events to get everything you want to have accomplished done by a certain date. It could prove to be a hairy few days.

Aries, while there's much about a situation that you don't understand, you will quickly be filled in on all the details you need to know to get the job done. TAURUS – April 21/May 21 Taurus, confrontation will get you nowhere. It is better to avoid any troublesome parties and simply go on with your days. No need to put monkey wrenches in the plans. GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21 Take some time to reflect on what you need to get done, Gemini. Things are about to get more hectic, and it will help to know what is on your schedule in the coming days. CANCER – June 22/July 22 There is no need to put off romantic endeavors, Cancer. Make time to further relationships, and you will be happier for having made the additional effort. LEO – July 23/August 23 Leo, a casual encounter with an old friend goes by like no time has elapsed at all. Agree to keep in touch and spend more time together going forward. VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22 Virgo, there are too many messes to clean up, so instead of digging in you may just decide to procrastinate a little longer. Just be sure to make up the time later on. LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23 You may find that things that are beneficial for others may not always be beneficial for you, Libra. But often you have to make sacrifices for the benefit of the entire group. SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22 Certain challenges may be tough to conquer, Scorpio. But with the right help you can get the job done. Gemini may be your shining light this week. SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21 There is no point in speculating about your finances, Sagittarius. Keep track of your deposits and withdrawals so you have a handle on all accounts. CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20 Now is not the time to leap without looking, Capricorn. You have to be cautious with your choices and actions this time of the month. Don't make waves so close to the holidays. AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18 Aquarius, although you do plenty, someone around the house could really use some more assistance from you. It may take some juggling of your schedule to accomplish. PISCES – Feb 19/Mar20 Usually your outpouring of creative juices is unstoppable, Pisces. This week you could have a little trouble thinking up new ideas.

GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21

Now is the time to get serious about saving, Gemini. No matter how hard you wish it, you will not see extra money simply appear in your bank account unless you put it there.

CANCER – June 22/July 22

It could take a couple of attempts before you reach the level of satisfaction you are seeking, Cancer. Patience is key whenever delving into uncharted waters.

LEO – July 23/August 23

Leo, a lot of things need to get done, but you're worried there simply isn't enough time to clear your docket. You have to cut out some of the nonessentials for now.

VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22

Virgo, now might be the time for a permanent change in scenery. Your finances might be ready for you to uproot and follow your heart to another locale.

LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23

Libra, you are ready to begin a big adventure. There may be moments that are scary, but overall the experience will be a good one for you and anyone else involved.

SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22

Scorpio, although you like to step up to a challenge, this week you really are not feeling like exerting yourself. Take some time to recuperate and build up renewed energy.

SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21

Sagittarius, this week you may be called to go above and beyond. As usual, you are ready to rise to the challenge. Take care to put your best effort into the task.

CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20

That monster vacation you have been planning may have to be put on hold, Capricorn. But that doesn't mean that you can't take a few weekend jaunts to make up for it.

AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18

Aquarius, the only way to recharge your batteries this week is to plan a trip. There is nothing like a change of scenery to breathe new life into a situation.

PISCES – Feb 19/Mar20

When someone does not take your advice, it can be easy to feel slighted. Don't let it bother you, Pisces, as it's beyond your control.

BEING PREPARED FOR MOTHER NATURE’S EXTREMES (NAPSA)Whether it is a hurricane, torn a d o , e a r t h quake or ex t e n d e d b l a c k o u t , A self-powered radio and flashlight combo is great to have on unexpected hand for emergencies. situations created by Mother Nature can happen anytime, anywhere. A recent national study found that while most Americans have experienced an emergency or severe weather situation, over half do not have an emergency kit at home and one third don’t believe they need one. To help, the preparedness experts at the Etón Corporation, a leading creator of highperformance, green-powered consumer products and the sponsor of the study, recommend a few steps you can take to better prepare for the unexpected: Make A Preparedness Kit That Contains The Following: • Bottled water and nonperishable food • Extra clothes and blankets for each family member • First aid kit • A self-powered emergency radio and flashlight combo, such as one from the Etón FRX Series. An AM/FM/NOAA radio will keep you informed, while the rechargeable battery (recharged via solar panel or hand crank) ensures you never run out of light or power. More advanced radios, such as the FRX 3, can even charge mobile devices via a USB port on the device. Create A Disaster Plan • Get together with family, friends and neighbors to discuss what disasters or emergencies could happen in the area and figure out the best plan for the community. • Take a first aid or CPR class. • Teach children their basic personal information so they can identify themselves if they become separated from a parent/guardian. • Plan a place where your family can meet in the event of an emergency. Educate And Inform Even with a disaster plan and preparedness kit in place, you are not fully prepared unless every family member is informed about the plan-and the potential for disasters. Once you’re aware of the type of disasters that can occur in the region where you live, find out if there’s a “season” or time of year when these events are most prevalent. For more information about Etón Corporation or the FRX Series of self-powered safety radios, visit www.etoncorp.com.

FUN BY THE NUMBERS Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test! HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle.

Save When Shopping This Holiday Season The holiday season is filled with tradition. Many families have their own unique customs, and those traditions create lasting memories for adults and children alike. One such holiday tradition is shopping for gifts for family and friends. Many people enjoy holiday shopping, anxiously anticipating the look on their loved ones' faces when they open their presents. But holiday shopping is even more enjoyable for shoppers who can save a little extra money. The following are a few tips for shoppers who still want to give the perfect gifts but don't want to break the bank. • Stop paying for shipping. Many people now do their holiday shopping online. Online shopping can be more convenient and give consumers more options. But some shoppers still shy away from online retailers for fear of high shipping costs. However, some retailers offer free shipping to consumers who spend a certain amount of money. In addition, savvy shoppers can scour the Internet for free shipping codes they can use at checkout. Some retailers even offer free shipping during the holiday season (last minute purchases might not be eligible) to entice customers. • Empty your wallet of gift cards. Gift cards are popular gifts come the holidays, but many gift card recipients fail to use their cards prior to their expiration dates. Many cards expire 12 months after their initial purchase date. If your wallet is filled with gift cards you received last holiday season, use them to buy gifts for friends and family now before they expire. • Make a list. Santa Claus is renowned for making a list come the holiday season, and holiday shoppers should follow his lead. Prior to your first holiday shopping trip, make a list that includes the names of friends and family to buy for and what you want to buy for each one of them. Doing so decreases the chances you'll forget someone and be forced to drive back to the mall. Reducing the number of shopping trips you have to make will conserve fuel and save you a substantial amount of money and time.

• Pay in cash. If you're not a fan of online shopping, then use only cash when shopping at brick-andmortar stores. Paying with cash eliminates the risk of overspending with credit cards, which will come back to haunt you in January when the bills are due. Take a predetermined amount of cash with you when shopping, and once that money is gone, then it's time to go home. • Don't be tempted by retailer credit cards. Retailer credit cards can be very tempting, especially when the cashier offers an immediate 20 percent discount if you sign up for the card at the register. But that discount comes at a steep price down the road. Not only will you be receiving a bill after the holiday season, but that retailer credit card will most definitely feature a high interest rate that can negate the initial discount at the register -- unless you pay off the balance in full. • Create spending parameters with your immediate family. The economy has yet to fully recover from the downturn that began nearly half a decade ago. As a result, many people still approach the holiday shopping season with a degree of trepidation. Get together with your immediate family and establish spending parameters so no person feels like he or she has to spend too much money on holiday shopping. Agree that no gift should cost more than $25. Everyone will still enjoy the holiday season and one another's company, and they won't be forced to deal with the stress of overspending

Christmas Traditions Around the Globe Families across the globe cherish their Christmas traditions. Customs may be unique to every family, but many countries boast their own unique traditions as well. • Australia: Many Australians celebrate Christmas by coming together at night to sing carols outside. That's not as chilly as it might sound, as Christmas in Australia actually falls during summer vacation. In fact, many of the country's most popular Christmas traditions occur outside. • England: Contrary to Australia, England's weather around Christmastime is much colder. Many of England's traditions resemble those popular in North America, including wrapping gifts, hanging stockings over the fireplace and gathering around the Christmas tree. Kids inEngland write a letter with their wishes to Father Christmas, but unlike mailing those letters like many North American children do, English children toss their letters into a fire so their Christmas wishes can go up the chimney. • France: Christmas celebrations in France begin several weeks before December 25, but Christmas Eve is most special to many natives of France. On Christmas Eve, church bells ring as people sing noels, or carols. The following day, a feast is enjoyed upon returning home from church. • Germany: In Germany, the weather is cold during the Christmas season, and in the

Christmas Cards

weeks leading up to Christmas families bake sweet bread, cakes with candied fruits and spicy cookies. Advent wreaths are popular in Germany and are purchased four Sundays before Christmas begins. The wreaths have places for four candles, and families light a candle on the wreath each Sunday. • Mexico: Families in Mexico celebrate Christmas by decorating their homes with lilies or evergreens. Because the weather is warm, many families also cut designs into brown paper bags before inserting a candle and then setting the designs, called farolitos, along the sidewalk, on windowsills, on rooftops, and along outdoor walls. Many communities in the southwestern United States have adopted this tradition, which they often refer to as luminaria. • Sweden: Christmas celebrations in Sweden begin on December 13, the day the country celebrates St. Lucia's Day. Celebrations for St. Lucia, the patron saint of light, are intricate and involve the whole family. A couple of days before Christmas is when many families select their Christmas tree.

According to Hallmark Corporate, 1.5 billion Christmas cards, including boxed and individual cards, are purchased and then sent every year in the U.S. This makes Christmas the No. 1 holiday for sending greetings, followed by Valentine's Day (144 mil-
