Beat The Bite Of The Menacing Mosquito (NAPS)—When mosquito season is here, Americans need to be vigilant about protecting themselves and their families. Not only are mosquitoes a terrible nuisance, they can carry West Nile virus, so it’s essential to do all you can to keep the bloodthirsty biters away. This has proven to be a challenge for many. Nearly 40 percent of U.S. adults don’t use mosquito repellent because they don’t like to put chemicals on their skin, according to a new survey conducted online by Harris Interactive. And 80 percent say that they prefer using natural products for themselves and their families, when available. Fortunately, it’s now possible to “beat the bite” of the menacing mosquito—gnats and midges, too—with two all-natural, area repellents: the portable Terminix AllClear TableTop Mosquito Repeller and the personal, clipable Terminix AllClear SideKick Mosquito Repeller. Both employ a fan-based diffusion technology to circulate a botanical scent of lemongrass, cinnamon, peppermint and geranium oils that’s safe, when used as directed, to protect

people outdoors without needing to spray anything on the skin. This allnatural repellent safely and effectively repels up to 95 percent of mosquitoes, and has been proven equal to chemical area repellents. These additional tips from the experts at Universal Pest Solutions will also help to keep mosquitoes away: • Regularly empty water from birdbaths, toys, buckets and ceramic pots. • Clean out other potential breeding areas such as rain gutters and catch basins. • Cut and clear away tall grass and weeds. • Add larvicides such as mosquito dunks (or BTIs) to standing bodies of water. Simple Steps To Save Gas Without Driving Less (NAPSA)-Just because gas prices go up, that doesn't mean your driving has to go down. You can't control the price of gas but you can control how much you use with some simple and inexpensive vehicle maintenance. Save Gas And Cash Consider these simple steps to save gas without driving less: • Keep your car properly tuned to improve gas mileage by an average of 4 percent. • Keep tires properly inflated and improve gas mileage by 3 percent. • Replace dirty or clogged air filters on older vehicles to improve gas mileage by as much as 10 percent. • Change oil regularly and gain another mile per gallon. • Check the gas cap. Damaged, loose or missing gas caps let the gas just vaporize into the air. • Observe the speed limit. Gas mileage decreases rapidly above 60 mph. • Avoid excessive idling. Idling gets zero miles per gallon. Warming up the vehicle for one or two minutes is sufficient. • Avoid quick starts and stops. Aggressive driving can lower gas

mileage by 33 percent on the highway and 5 percent in the city. • Consolidate trips. Several short trips taken from a cold start can use twice as much gas as one longer multipurpose trip. • Don't haul unneeded items in the trunk. An extra 100 pounds in the

trunk reduces fuel economy by up to 2 percent. "Some motorists think they are saving money when they put off needed vehicle maintenance," said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. "What they don't realize is that neglecting routine maintenance can end up costing a lot more. Keeping your car running efficiently and modifying your

FUN BY THE NUMBERS Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test! HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle.

(NAPSA)-According to a recent study, 62 percent of Americans now report grilling year-round. Take a tip from these backyard grillers and pick up some steaks, break out the tools and perfect your grilling techniques. These quick and easy tips will help take your home-grilled steaks to the next level: • Quality: Nothing says quality like USDA-certified meat, such as Walmart's USDA Choice steaks. Only one in five steaks meets the guidelines to be Walmart's Choice Premium Beef so you can be confident you're grilling with the best. • Temperature: Remove steaks from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before grilling to allow the meat to rise to room temperature. • Marinade: Add robust flavor with a marinade that uses ingredients you may already have in your kitchen, like A.1. or Dr. Pepper. Place steaks in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish. Mix pineapple and orange juices with the soy sauce, vinegar and minced garlic. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, for a maximum of 12 hours. When steak is done marinating, remove and pat dry, rubbing both sides with the steak seasoning. Prepare a charcoal grill for direct high heat (450-500 degrees F) using Kingsford(r) charcoal. Grill with the lid closed, turning once or twice, until cooked to your desired doneness, 6 to 8 minutes for medium rare. Let rest for 5 minutes.
