News Editor UKRAINIAN refugees settling in Scotland will be allowed to attend Scottish universities for free and receive living costs, subject to parliamentary approval. Under the new proposals from the Scottish Government, Ukrainians wishing to study a higher education course in Scotland for the next academic year will be eligible for free tuition fees and living cost support, providing they have applied to the Homes for Ukraine, Ukraine Family, or the Ukraine Extension schemes. While existing Ukrainian students already started studying in Scotland and who are experiencing hardships will be eligible to apply for immediate financial help from a newly created one-millionpound International Students’ Emergency Fund. Regulations which would enable the changes are due to be laid out in parliament in early May and, if approved they will come into force from August.
