Rockshop 2011 FAQ’s We are assuming that by the time you get to reading this you know the basics August 1st – 5th, Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, working with Herbie Flowers and his team of extraordinary and talented professionals, forming bands and creating original music which will be performed at the Big Night Out – Friday 5th August 7pm. Cost £120 for the whole week (9.30 – 5.30) and evening show. Who is it for All young people who are passionate about music between the ages of 14 and 19 on August 1st 2011 Do I have to bring an instrument Yes please. Guitar players should bring a guitar and amp (please please label it they do all look alike!) Percussionists and vocalists should bring hand held percussion – we have kit drums in the venues. We are particularly keen to encourage players of string, wind and brass instruments. If you play a clarinet, an oboe, a violin, a trumpet etc. please bring it even if you consider it to be your second instrument. Can I leave my gear in the venue overnight Yes. Whilst we cannot absolutely guarantee its safety the building is secure and already contains a lot of valuable equipment which we have to look after. I want to come with all my band and stay with them You will probably find that you end up doing other things with other people as part of the Rockshop experience but of course you are all welcome to come along. I cant afford it Please send us an email and explain your circumstances – we do have two free places for people in particular need, and can also offer concessions. But please note that the Rockshop is already heavily subsidised and works financially because people pay for it- so only ask if you need to – thanks ! I don’t know anybody else who is coming and I am worried it will be cliquey Some people will have been before and some will be new – if you care about the music you wont be left out. Is there food We usually have some sort of food and drink outlet but you are welcome to bring packed lunches. There are lots of takeaways and cafes nearby and water is always available. My friends and parents want to see me play.
