in association with Resident Our city is brimming with musical talent and Brighton Dome’s new project Spectrum offers the perfect platform for acts to be seen and heard. As well as hosting a diverse ‘spectrum’ of bands each month in the Studio Theatre, Spectrum also offers artist residencies, opportunities for musicians and filmmakers to collaborate through the Site & Sound project, as well as seminars for local musicians to learn more about the industry.

Mef and Red have known each other since they were kids before signing to Def Jam. While they have been collaborating since 1994 (including Tupac Shakur's Got My Mind Made Up), it wasn’t until 1999 that they released a studio album, Blackout! A sitcom for Fox TV followed and in 2001 they starred together in the movie How High.

Grammy award-winning Method Man has no shortage of hits, having released four solo studio albums; two albums with Redman and four platinum-selling albums as part of legendary hip hop supergroup Wu-Tang Clan.

Critically acclaimed Redman has released seven solo albums to date, five of which went gold or platinum.

This is one you will not want to miss.

Method Man & Redman

Mods Versus Rockers Exactly 50 years ago this month, Mods and Rockers fought their battles on the streets and beaches of Brighton. Now the cult queer vintage club peddlers Duckie recreate this historical epoch in music, dance, performance and choreography.

Hosted by Amy Lamé with DJs Readers Wifes, this Brighton Pride 2014 highlight stars a glittering array of talent, including The Caezars, Figs in Wigs, The Actionettes, The Two Wrongies, Black Elvis, Piney Gir, Miss High Leg Kick, Lucille Power, The Drakes and a dozen Lesley Ash clones.

Please dress appropriately and/or take advantage of our wardrobe and styling facilities to make sure you blend in — or stand out.

The Energy Show

Methane bubbles are set alight to make fireballs, liquid nitrogen freezes flowers, hydrogen balloons explode and rockets are fired into the audience.

Stand well back and cover your ears – theatre just got dangerously exciting!

Two futuristic science students race against time to prove their knowledge of energy. With help from the incredible virtual lab-assistant, i-nstein, and a steampunk workshop full of gadgets and chemicals, they explore, experiment and explode anything and everything they can find, building to a breath-taking climax as they demonstrate all forms of energy, live on stage, in under five minutes.

The Little Mermaid

Following sell out performances of The Nutcracker at Christmas, Ballet Theatre UK returns to Brighton Dome with a dramatic retelling of a Hans Christian Andersen favourite.

When the Little Mermaid falls in love with a human Prince, she gives up everything to win his love. The kind hearted little mermaid rescues the prince during a storm at sea, and begins a journey that takes her far from her home beneath the waves. Determined to pursue her love on to the shore, she makes a bargain with an evil sea witch, but it comes at a heavy price.

Don’t miss this charming and poignant ballet for the whole family that shows us how making choices have lasting consequences and how goodness can be rewarded in unexpected ways.

Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model In an audacious, provocative protest against flagrant global attempts to sexualise and commodify childhood for profit, award-winning artist Bryony Kimmings (Sex Idiot, 7 Day Drunk) and her nine-year-old niece Taylor decided to play the global tween machine at its own game by inventing dinosaur-loving, bike riding, tuna pasta-eating, alternative pop star Catherine Bennett.

Winner of a clutch of awards at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013, including 3 Weeks Editors Award, Fringe First Award and Fringe Review Outstanding Achievement Award, this is your last chance to see this show. Get up close and personal with Brighton Dome past and present on this special behind-the-scenes encounter. Find out what goes down backstage before the curtain goes up out front. And seek out the hidden histories of this iconic building including a rare glimpse of the entrance to the infamous tunnel running from the Royal Pavilion to the Concert Hall.

Take a tour of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton Dome Concert Hall and Corn Exchange and discover how they were used by the military as hospitals from 1914 to 1919.

Grease the Musical Book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey Directed by Michael Burnie

Everyone’s favourite musical will have you rocking and rolling along to a host of showstopping songs, including ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’, ‘You’re the One That I Want’ and ‘Greased Lightning’. Packed with great tunes, Grease is the original high school musical — a zesty and nostalgic take on 1950s America immortalized in the 1978 film starring starring John Travolta and Olivia NewtonJohn. anarchic approach to making collaborative work is both refreshing and exhilarating.

Miss Represented bring you their new energetic and powerful cross art performance. These are the voices you never hear, but should.

We all know know what happened when the Nazis came to power and the world went to war. But how did it happen?

How did it affect people like us?

And how can we be sure it won’t happen again? Those are the questions that Bertolt Brecht poses in Fear And Misery of The Third Reich. Marshalling a wonderful array of characters in a vibrant recreation of life under Nazi rule, Firecracker probes the theatricality of tragedy in a series of ironical vignettes that reveal the secrecy and suspicion, denial and defiance of life in Nazi Germany.

The Five & the Prophecy of Prana Five young troublemakers are drawn into a power struggle that has divided a secret group of warriors. Given a chance to redeem themselves in the ensuing battle to restore peace, their action-packed adventure becomes a celebration of camaraderie and the triumph of the human spirit. Set in modern Tokyo, The Five & the Prophecy of Prana sees dazzling visuals frame a dynamic fusion of hiphop and martial arts in an explosive tribute to manga – Japan’s popular graphic novel form.

Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy and Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante, the Olivier award-winning team behind Pied Piper and choreographer and composer for the film Streetdance 3D, have worked with the monks from the Shaolin Temple Warrior School, Japanese manga artist Akio Tanaka, and award winning video animation studio Yeast Culture, to create this electrifying show.
