What a month! Earthquake. Eclipse. Earth Day. Together we saw the unpredictable beauty and power of our world, and marveled together with wonder and curiosity. On April 5th we experienced a 4.8 magnitude earthquake, a moment that emphasized the importance of preparedness and appreciation for our emergency teams. Thankfully, Bridgewater did not experience any major damage from the earthquake, and I am thankful for our emergency professionals in all the ways that they provided our residents with relevant updates. A few days later the skies darkened with the 90% totality during the solar eclipse, and we were reminded that sometimes going outside and looking up is a reminder of the power of a shared experience. And speaking of shared experiences, two weeks after the solar eclipse, we gathered together for our Earth Day celebration at Chimney Rock Park. The day was filled with painting, crafts, nature walks, skateboarding, ice cream, fun, and all the fresh air we could handle. May will be incredibly busy, so I hope you take a look at some of the events coming up. We have our Spring Carnival right around the corner, our Raritan Headwaters Well Water testing event, our Master Plan Public Input Workshop, and all our regularly scheduled meetings. If you haven’t already, check out all the summer programs offered by our Recreation Department, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel. I hope you have a wonderful May enjoying the weather and all that Bridgewater has to offer. Thankful for all of you,
Mayor Matthew C. Moench
