March held some remarkable moments that deserve a few words. First and foremost, Bridgewater Police Department’sownOfficerNoahAllatt receivedtheinauguralMayor’sAwardfor Exceptional Public Service for his incrediblebraveryinsavingadriverfrom aburningcar.Gotopage3toreadmore.

Additionally,theTownshipproduceda video that highlights Officer Allatt’s amazing actions in the context of what ourpoliceofficershavetodoeverysingle day.Ihopeyoutakethetimetowatchit.

EarlierinMarch,IwasincrediblyhonoredtoreadtothechildrenatTheLearning ExperienceforReadAcrossAmericaweekalongwithBPDOfficerAlosi Itwasa great reminder to me about the importance of reading and imagination, two powerfulskillsthatwillhelpthechildrenoftodaybecometheleadersoftomorrow.

Township Calendar

BridgewaterPoliceOfficerNoahAllattwasrecentlyrecognizedfor his extraordinary bravery during a life-threatening incident on Route22.Respondingtoaseriousaccident,OfficerAllattsaved an unconscious driver trapped in a burning vehicle. With no regardforhisownsafety,heforcedopenthedamageddoor,pulled the driver out, and dragged him to safety just moments before thecarwasfullyengulfedinflames.

In recognition of his heroism, Officer Allatt received the inaugural “Mayor’s Award for Exceptional Public Service,” an official proclamation from the Township, and the “Award of Valor” from the Bridgewater Police Department. These honors reflect not only his personal couragebutalsothededicationoftheentireBridgewaterPoliceforce.

JoiningtheBridgewaterPoliceDepartmentattheCouncilmeetinghonoringOfficerAllattwere membersoftheotherrespondingEMSagenciesthatrespondedtotheburningcrash:theFinderne FireCompany,theMartinsvilleFireCompany,theGreenKnollVolunteerFireDepartment,and theRobertWoodJohnsonHospitalParamedicsteam.

We invite you to watch a special video honoring Officer Allatt’s bravery on the Township YouTube channel. His actions are a reminder of theselflessservicethatkeepsourcommunitysafe.

InpreparationforAmerica’s250thanniversary,local history groups have united to form the Bridgewater Historical Alliance. The Alliance includes the Somerset County Historical Society, Friends of Bridgewater History, Heritage Trail Association, Washington Campground Association, and representativesfromBridgewaterTownship.

Thegroup’smissionistoshareBridgewater’srichhistory,supportlocalevents,andhelpplanthe250th celebration.Aspartofthiseffort,theTownshipwillfeaturemonthlyarticleshighlightinglocalhistorygroups andupcomingevents.

BridgewaterTownshipisexcitedtoannounceLegacy2126,aspecialinitiativecelebratingAmerica’s250th birthdaybycreatinga100-yeartimecapsuleThetownshipisinvitingresidents,schools,housesofworship, andcommunitygroupstocontributemeaningfulitemsthatreflectlifeinBridgewatertoday.

ThetimecapsulewillbesealedonJuly4,2026,duringaspecialceremony,andwillremainuntilitis reopenedonJuly4,2126Thisuniqueprojectoffersanopportunitytopreservememories,capturethe spiritofBridgewater,andleavealastinglegacyforfuturegenerations.

Inthecomingmonths,youwilllearnmore abouthowtocontributeitemstothetime capsule,andbeinvitedtoparticipatein eventstolearnmoreaboutBridgewater’s historyandlegacy.
