HOW THE MAINE WINNERS ARE SELECTED Maine is a great place to live and work, with a quality workforce and world-class businesses making up two of its most valuable resources. The Best Places to Work in Maine program helps bring these resources together to ensure Maine’s leadership in the economy of the future. The Best Places to Work in Maine, conceived in 2006, is a celebration of elite employers that have proved they know what it takes to create an environment where people love to come to work. Identifying and recognizing these employers is a joint effort of the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group and BridgeTower Media. The Best Places to Work in Maine program is open to all publicly or privately held organizations, either for-profit or not-for-profit. To be eligible, organizations must have at least 15 employees in the State of Maine, have a facility in Maine and have been in business a minimum of one year. The survey process was managed by Best Companies Group. A two-part survey process collected information about each organization. That information was then evaluated and used to determine the final rankings. Part one of the assessment (one-quarter of each organization’s score) consists of an employer survey that collects information about each

employer's benefits, policies, practices and other general data. Part two of the assessment (representing three-quarters of the total score) consists of a confidential employee survey that evaluates the employees’ workplace experience. The two assessments provide information used in an in-depth analysis of the strengths of each organization and the opportunities to build a better workplace. Each organization that participated in the program received an Insights Report Package that summarized the data collected. Organizations that completed the entire assessment and reached a minimum response rate and score were eligible for a spot on the list of the Best Places to Work in Maine. The list is broken into three categories: large organizations with 250 or more U.S. employees, medium organizations with 50 to 249 U.S. employees and small organizations with 15 to 49 U.S. employees. The organizations presented in the following pages are indeed innovators. They help their employees — and their business — succeed. For more information on this program, visit www. BestPlacestoWorkME.com or call Best Companies Group at 877-455-2159. For more information about future sponsorships or event details, please contact Suzanne Fischer-Huettner at shuettner@ bridgetowermedia.com.

The association has invested in equipment including three fully equipped emergency response trailers that deploy when communities face critical water or wastewater emergencies, and employees take pride in helping utilities and residents through challenging moments. Professional development is central to MRWA's mission through its registered

Staff work remotely and travel to communities all across Maine, building relationships with utility personnel and local leaders while experiencing some of the state's most beautiful places. Employees are trusted to use their expertise, think creatively and make decisions that benefit the communities they serve, supported by a team mentality, management that encourages staff input and job shadowing both within the association and out in the field. Drummond Woodsum, a Portland-based law firm, has built its reputation as a best place to work on a culture of teamwork, appreciation and mentorship. Employee and family outings each summer and winter, a Halloween party for staff and their children, and a Community Service Week give employees dedicated time to volunteer with local organizations. New attorneys are paired with mentors, and firmwide kudos emails, swag and free lunches celebrate a job well done.

Skowhegan Savings Bank, marking 157 years as a mutual bank, puts employees first through defined career paths, tuition reimbursement and a 12-week parental leave benefit. This year, the bank expanded its recognition program with 13 new awards, added financial rewards and time off, and introduced converting sick time into personal days. A half-day Employee Appreciation Day with team building and giveaways and a fully paid therapy program reflect a culture employees describe as a family.

More than 20,000 financial advisors serve more than 9 million clients with $2.5 trillion in assets under care, supported by roughly 55,000 associates working from branches in 68% of U.S. counties and every Canadian province. The firm is guided by its purpose to partner for positive impact, improving the lives of clients and colleagues while bettering communities. Associates describe coming to Edward Jones for a career rather than a job, finding flexible, family-friendly workplaces close to home along with strong support from their regions and home office. Regions serve as leadership-development centers where client support professionals can advance into registered branch associate, associate financial advisor or financial advisor roles. Com-

When associates face hardship, colleagues respond with paid leave, medical exceptions and gift cards, and the firm's Disaster Relief Fund distributed $131,000 to associates and their families in 2025. Volunteerism is central to the culture, with home-office associates receiving a paid Day of Caring each year and branch volunteerism common during work hours. A Trimester Challenge offers client support professionals $50 gift cards for participation, and well-being resources cover nutrition, fitness and stress management. MAJOR SPONSOR Mathews Brothers, established in 1854 in Belfast, has been making windows and more importantly providing opportunities for Maine families for over 170 years. Over this time, we have grown from a small local company into America’s longest standing window manufacturer, serving homeowners across New England and beyond through more than 180 trusted dealer locations. While our products and technology have evolved over the decades, our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and the people behind every window and door has never changed. Manufactured exclusively in Maine by a team of people we are proud to call family, every Mathews Brothers product reflects the values that have guided our company for generations and continue to shape its future. Mathews Brothers operates from our Belfast headquarters and manufacturing facility on Perkins Road, with additional production and office operations at our Hermon location on Logistics Lane. Being America’s oldest window manufacturer does not mean standing still. It means having more than 170 years of experience adapting, improving, and innovating through every change the industry has seen. From the earliest days of handcrafted wood products to today’s advanced window and door systems, Mathews Brothers has continually embraced new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes while maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality. Our longevity is not the result of resisting change, it is the result of leading it. Our experience crafting traditional wood windows helped shape the industry, while decades of innovation in vinyl manufacturing have allowed us to deliver exceptional durability, energy efficiency,

and value. Today, that expertise comes together across our product families, giving builders and homeowners solutions that balance timeless design with modern performance. Since 1854, Mathews Brothers has remained deeply connected to the people and communities that helped shape our company. While our products have evolved alongside changing technologies and customer needs, our commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, and customer service remains unchanged. Mathews Brothers has always believed that being part of a community means giving back to it. From local events and charitable initiatives to supporting organizations that strengthen the places we call home, we are committed to making a positive impact beyond the products we manufacture. The story of Mathews Brothers would not be possible without the people behind it. For more than 170 years, our employees have been the driving force behind our growth, innovation, and success. By investing in their well-being and fostering a positive workplace culture, we strive to ensure every team member feels valued and supported. Whether that’s hosting large and frequent events and parties, or just providing the best human resources experience possible, the most important thing to Mathews Brothers is the people. This philosophy has functioned as our mission statement for as long as the company has existed. Mathews Brothers will never make a sacrifice that comes at the expense of the great men and women that make Mathews Brothers what it is. People come first, the windows come second, and when the windows are world class, you know you’ve got a great company with no plans of slowing down.

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is the largest independent oncology practice north of Boston. Physician-led and focused solely on fighting cancer, NECS provides comprehensive care for people with blood and solid tumor cancers across Maine and New Hampshire. Its approach brings together advanced cancer treatment with research and clinical trials, nutrition, counseling, survivorship, and other critical services that support patients throughout their cancer journey. NECS is the only Affiliate Member of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the US and the first practice in Maine and New Hampshire to earn certification as an ASCO-Certified Oncology Medical Home. Through these partnerships and a robust clinical research program, NECS brings advanced cancer care and promising new treatments closer to home. For self-funded employers, cancer represents one of the most significant and unpredictable areas of healthcare spending—and where employees receive care matters. Growing national evidence shows that community oncology delivers strong patient outcomes while offering a lower-cost alternative to hospital-based care, a difference that can be especially meaningful in Maine. Connecting employees with NECS early in their cancer journey gives them access to high-quality, comprehensive cancer care close to home while helping employers better manage costs.
