Punta de Mita’s W Hotel is a welcome addition to the luxury scene

This bohemian chic hotspot hidden in the lush jungle on the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit is garnering mucho attention for its luxury accommodations. It’s quickly becoming the prime destination for weddings, commitment ceremonies and honeymoons.

Located 25 miles from the international airport in Puerto Vallarta, and a twohour plane ride from Texas, The W in Punta de Mita, reflects the surrounding culture and incorporates images of traditional Mexican celebrations and the Huichol people (indigenous people of Nayarit). Opened in 2016, it was built around nature– incorporating the ancient fig trees and natural springs – which were not disturbed during construction. Upon arrival, guests are whisked throughout the property via a fleet of colorful TukTuks. Or they can choose to scoot their way around on the throw-back Razors located around each corner. as Frida Kahlo, by Revolución Del Sueño, adorn each room. The majority of the property’s art and décor is provided by local nearby Sayulita artisans. With a dedicated on-site full time wedding “guru,” all special event planning can be handled at the property, from floral to table assignments to live music. Pre-wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and cocktails parties can be hosted in one of the private dining rooms at the several restaurants, under the stars in a tented party palace, or poolside.
