On the 7th of May Writers Festival Curaçao will organize another innovating and spectacular festival. The theme of this festival is ‘Writers meet Singers’. With this festival we want to give writers and singers a stage to showcase their joined talent. We believe that language and music are the cement of the society and therefore we want to bring these two together. What is more beautiful than inspiring stories combined with good music? What is the purpose of this festival? The purpose of this festival is to bring the art of writing and music together and give possibilities for people to meet, get to know each other and to compose something new together. This combination can result in authentic work that can be showcased on stage at this festival and beyond. Who can participate? Anyone who has a passion for writing or music can participate. Anyone, discovering or experienced, young or ‘at age’. Participation can be in English, Dutch, Papiamento, or Spanish. You can register solo but with the intention to meet and find a music or writing partner. But you can also register as a group if you already have a group of people and made some work together combining writing and music. How is this festival taking place? We start with two ‘Writers meet Singers’ network sessions on the 12th of March and on the 30th of March. You can register for one of the two sessions which will be held at night. We have limited spots so be sure to register on time. During these network sessions we will explain exactly what we expect on the 7th of May. During the first half of the evening, we will invite you to do a small pitch to present yourself and explain if you are a writer or musician and what you are looking for. Everyone will get 5 minutes to present. To get to know each other better we will also be playing a PubQuiz. In the second half of the evening everyone gets a chance to talk one on one and share ideas with each other. This way we try to bring the two worlds of writing and music together and link partners with each other. Hopefully new work can be created and will lead to participation on the Writers meet Singers Festival.
The time lapse between the network sessions and the festival can be used to get together and create something to present on the night of the festival. You must be able to work together as a team and create a new art where writing and music are brought together in perfect harmony. You must take initiative to create something new which will lead you to participate on the night of the festival. What is award? The winning act of the festival on May the 7th will get the opportunity to produce and publish a professional clip. You will be guided professionally to produce your clip. Also, the Writers festival Curaçao will help you to promote the clip fully using their platform. How can you register to participate?
