POST-GRADUATE CERTIFICATE Why This Program? The Post-Graduate Certificate program is designed for matersprepared nurses who are interested in serving as family nurse practitioners, adult/gerontology primary care nurse practitioners, or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners. Graduates integrate the breadth and depth of knowledge to promote the health of individuals, orchestrate and evaluate evidence from nursing research and assimilate nursing theory into practice.

MINIMUM CLINICAL HOURS REQUIRED Admission Steps • Formal application for admission. • Official transcripts from every college attended must be submitted to the Registrar office for review. • Evidence of licensure as an RN in Iowa or state participating in licensure compact. • Evidence of a minimum of 2000 hours of clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse before clinical courses. • Current resume. • Goal statement demonstrating logical thinking and writing skills.

Clinical Preceptor Program Preceptors act as role models, helping our students strengthen their skills in performing assessments, diagnosis and treatment of diverse patients across the lifespan and in a variety of settings. Preceptors provide opportunities for students to interact with other health professionals and learn necessary communication and organizational skills that prepare them for practice.
