PERFORMANCE NOTES
“Blood in the Soil” is a 50-minute chamber ballet that honors the rich history and legacy of Black & Indigenous farmers, agriculturalists, & stewards of land and highlights their innate connection to soil.
The form of the work is cast in the form of a Shakespearian Sonnet, with each ‘couplet’ showcasing the duality of life experiences between African and Indigenous peoples from the inception of the United States to the present day:
