INTRODUCTION
From the Executive Director
T
here is a lot to do in May! On May 9, we are partnering with the Small Business Development Center to bring you “Making Sense Out of Dollars.” This course is perfect for any small business that is looking to assess their cash flow and profit and loss statements as they grow (see opposite page for more info). Next, on May 15 we are partnering with the Wind River Visitor Council to bring you “Wind River Country’s Google Program.” This program will help you get your business, attraction or organization officially VERIFIED by Google so you can show up in a Google Search, on Google Maps, Google Street View, and more. In addition, from June 19-26 the Truly360 Google Team will drive through the Lander area with the Google camera to document our tourism attractions, visitor and information centers, lodgings, organizations and businesses for Google Street View (see page 9 for the details). As we mentioned last month, we are getting good response to our Lander Homecoming Grant, a grant for up to $6,000 to help our youth return to the Lander area workforce in good style! (See page 8.) Make sure to check out LEDA’s Wyoming Outdoor Weekend from May 17-18. This consumer trade show event continues to grow every year, and this year we will have a booth there to help visitors learn what exciting things there are to do in the Lander area. One more thing coming down the road: Registration forms for our Flower Barrel Program continue to come in, and there is still time to register. This year our partner Sprout’s will be prestarting the barrels, so when they arrive, they are going to be full and ready to make a splash at your place of business! It is a cost-effective way to make your business space beautiful! (See insert to sign-up.)

This class is designed to take some of the mystery out of what your financial statements are telling you. This class can be a great benefit to many types of business owners. If you are one of those business owners who only looks at the bottom line to see if it is positive, gives a copy to your banker, then sticks it in the drawer until next month or next year, consider joining us. Or, if you faithfully review the statements but simply feel like you could be getting more information out of them, perhaps we can help. We will attempt to point out a few of the important things to be looking at and offer some additional resources that can assist you in your decision making. Lunch will be provided by the Lander Chamber of
Commerce. Preregistration is required. Presented by Bruce Morse, Wyoming SBDC Network Regional Director for Northwest Wyoming. Bruce has been serving Wyoming entrepreneurs and small business owners since 2006. Prior to that, he served in various positions in the banking industry for over 22 years. He holds a BS degree in Finance from Montana State University – Bozeman. He is a graduate of the ABA Commercial Lending School, is certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP), a Level 1 certified Family Business Advisor, and a GrowthWheel Certified Business Advisor. Bruce’s areas
of specialization include financial analysis and loan application review. He was part of a team that investigated, launched and implemented the Financial Health Check-up program and leads the Profit Mastery team.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES OF FREMONT COUNTY Child Development Services of Fremont County is a nonprofit with offices in both Lander and Riverton, that have served Fremont County for nearly 50 years. CDS Fremont County begins every fall with screens to determine if your child qualifies for our services. Services are free for children ages 0-5 and prepares children to transition into the school district. Child Development Services receives funding from the Wyoming Developmental Disabilities Division, federally funded projects, and Fremont County. An important source of funds also comes
through contributions from community organizations and individuals. No fee is charged for Special Ed or related services provided by Child Development Services.
BOYLE ELECTRIC INC. Boyle Electric Inc. is a full service electrical contractor
based in Lander that serves Fremont County and the surrounding areas. BETSY MILEK Betsy Milek is the owner of and seamstress at Betsy Milek Custom Sewing. Betsy opened her sewing business in September of
2015. She has over 25 years of sewing experience, from making pajamas to formal wear, and pretty much everything in between. Betsy can replace zippers, mend holes, and hem just about anything, or if you need something made just for you,she can do that, too. Betsy began sewing in 4-H
at the age of 8, and has been sewing ever since. Betsy and Josh, her husband of 14 years, have two children and are proud to call Lander their home. “I’m so blessed to
get to live and work in a town where I know my neighbors and have the opportunity to help the local economy by filling a need with something that I love to do.”

TALENT RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION is a strategic priority of the Lander Chamber of Commerce! We recognize that our area has educated many qualified individuals who have furthered their education. We also have many high-quality jobs available. We want to offer and encourage college graduates to look at making the Lander area their home. This grant is one more recruitment tool to get talent back to the Lander area. TO APPLY: Pick up an application at the Lander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center.
APPLICANT CRITERIA: 1. Has attended at least three years of school in Fremont County at any level. 2. Has or will in 2017, 2018 or 2019: Graduated from a two or four-year college, -OR-
Satisfactorily completed a term of military service
3. Has accepted a job offer for a position from an active Lander Chamber member in the Lander area.
ABOUT GRANT AWARD DETAILS: Up to $6,000 in reimbursed student debt, moving expenses or other approved expenses. Payable over 4 years, up to $1,500 per year. TIMELINE: Rolling application with first review period in May. Other review periods to be determined as funds are available.

The Wind River Visitors Council and the Lander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center have teamed up to put Wind River Country and your town, attractions, organizations and businesses literally “on the Google map.” We are launching Wind River Country’s Google Program and we want your help to make it successful. Google has a new program targeted to the tourism industry. The Wind River Visitors Council is the first Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) to sign up for this in Wyoming with Truly360, a certified Google company. Fremont County is the pilot project and, along with the Lander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, we want you to be a Google mover and shaker with us! By the time you have read this far, millions of Google searches have just been made in those minutes. How can you appear more often and rank higher on Google

Sign up for an in-person Google Workshop in Lander, co-hosted by the Lander Chamber and Visitor Center! And it’s FREE to you.
