but some of the best fishing in North America is found in Wind River Country. With 626 lakes and reservoirs, and 2,057 miles of river, there are lifetimes worth of fishing day trips and destination vacations. Grab a license and get your cast on in the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie, several lakes easily accessible from the Loop Road, or, with special permits, on the Wind River Indian Reservation. It is worth investing in a Wyoming gazetteer and creating your very own secret favorite spot.

Put on flipflops, mud boots, sneakers, trail shoes, or snowshoes in all inclement weather and enjoy the vibrantly changing and humbling landscape. Stop into any outfitter on Main Street, the Chamber of Commerce, or the USFS office for maps and recommendations. Insider tip: ask a local where their favorite spot is to hike and youâ€™ll be hard pressed to get the same answer twice.
