I was inspired by the embroidery work of Anders Wang and the White House animated GIF. He embroidered multiple long horizontal threads with different colors to illustrate the LGBT pride flag. I saw his work, and his LGBT pride flag stood out to me as every line aligned neatly parallel. I stitched gray threads to outline the White House and then left the inside empty to be white and create some negative space. In the background, I applied the inspiration from Wang’s work to stitch many long parallel vertical threads with various colors to represent the LGBT pride flag.
My work displays a significant historical event about equality of same-sex marriage across the U.S. that the Supreme Court legalized as people used #LoveWins. I spent a tremendous amount of time finishing this embroidery since I wanted it to be done nicely and carefully. I am so proud of this piece.
