QB Tom Brady Comes Out of Retirement by Julia Golden ’22

As football season came to an end, seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady announced that he was retiring from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a 22-season career. However, due to what Brady called, "unfinished business,” with just forty days after his retirement announcement, he announced that he was coming out of retirement to continue to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady said he didn’t want to be a spectator. “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady tweeted out. At the age of 44 years old, Brady will continue to play football for a 23rd season. Last season on the Buccaneers, Brady was close to going to the Super Bowl, losing against the LA Rams during the playoffs. With the score of 30-27, just a field goal away, Brady lost against the Rams, which has led people

to think that the reason he came out of retirement is that he wanted to end his career with one last Super Bowl win. Although, in his final game against the Rams, Brady did make an impressive comeback as the game started 10-3 Rams and in the final quarter, the Buccaneers scored 14 points to catch up to the Rams in a game that was so close to going overtime. The Buccaneers had a standing of 14-5 that season, and Brady

decided he wanted to do better. While the game schedule for next season isn’t officially announced yet, there is confirmation that at home Brady will play against the Los Angeles Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons. As for away games, the Buccaneers will play against the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons. While this is an exciting lineup with many good games, new players will join these teams as the NFL Draft takes place this year starting on Thursday, April 28th, through Saturday, April 30th. No one knows when Brady will officially hang up his cleats, but at least we know that we can see him in action for one more season.

While the academic year comes to an end, students are able to reflect on their experiences at Brewster and the way it has impacted them. Ms. Raylene Davis has been a cardinal member of the Brewster family for twentyfive years and is currently finishing up her last year at Brewster as an outstanding Assistant Head of School and Dean of Academics. Before teaching at Brewster, Ms. Davis was an educator at three schools in Japan as well as three schools in Australia. She has used her international knowledge to teach the English Language Learners program at Brewster and has served in various positions at Brewster, such as Summer Programs Director and International Programs Director. When asked which teachers have inspired her most throughout her years of teaching, Ms. Davis said, “Dedicated educators and sincerely enthusiastic, curious learners and individuals like my mother.” As for her future beyond cont on pg. 4

Kate Turner, or ‘Coach T’ as she is known on Brewster Academy’s campus, arrived at Brewster Academy in 1986. She became the assistant to the athletic director since her start at the school. Mrs. Turner loves to coach field hockey at the junior varsity level. Also, during her first years at Brewster, she coached the girls lacrosse team and the alpine ski team. For a long time, Kate Turner loved to play sports and later on she began coaching. Mrs. Turner is 76 years old and she grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from high school in 1964 and throughout her years as a student she was fortunate to go to an all-girls school, where those girls, including her, had the opportunity to play lots of sports. “It was really unusual back then, because only boys could play sports,” she said. During her years at the all-girls school, she played lacrosse. After graduating from high school and
