THE ADVENTURE
Who gets the idea to travel 4.000 km in the middle of winter to the very north of the atlantic ocean to free dive with killer wales, well Linus does. Planning this kind of adventure and expedition require experience and to be well prepared. THE CREW
The friends Jonathan and Johanboth share the free diving intresst and are adventures. Linus dad is the captain on the boat and supporting in planning and preperations.
THE TRAILER
The trailer used is the Brenderup X-line boat trailer 263500TB SRX equipped with additional accessories like gang boards, lashing eyes, straps and of course winter tires.
DRIVING ACROSS THE SCANDINAVIAN MOUNTAIN RIDGE IN SNOW AND RAIN
To drive a heavy trailer on slippery roads are always challanging, but it helps if the trailer is stable, robust built and well designed. Most of Brenderup trailers are equiped with V-shaped chassis that give a natural stability, the chassis on the larger trailers has extra enforced chassis and tandem axel that give that extra traction that you need for larger boats.
FIRST DAY
When arriving to Tromsรถ the snow lay heavy on the roads and thick ice covering the bay. The nigth was very windy and the warm atlantic vinds removed the ice and snow, allowing us to securely launch the boat in the atlantic ocean.
EQUIMENT THAT WORKS
With robust and high quality equipment the job is easy and a joy. The X-line rollers are large with the right friction and make the unloading easy. The covered winch is easy to use even thou there are many kilo of weight to manage, reliable and functional is key signum for Brenderup.
CLEAR WATER
Free diving* is an extreme diving method that very few have experience in - the freedom it gives is however unpresidented. We where lucky and the water was clear and we had a few days where the wether was calm and provided with good natural light, even thous in these latitudes the sun is barely showing up on the horizon. * Diving without tubes and using a snorkle for air
THE HUNT FOR KILLER WALES
The first days we could not see any killer wales, but we did see some humpback whales and halibuts.
KILLER WALES SPOTED
On day seven we spoted the first signs of killer wales in distance. Now we know they are here on the hunt for fish to eat, the next we we did get to see more of the.
LAST DAY
On our last day we came very close to the killer wales and could get some very nice photos and an experience for a lifetime. We are all humble to nature and these magnificent animals and feeling blessed to have been able to do this adventure.
THE ADVENTURE IS OVER
After ten intensive days of diving it feels good to drive back the 2.000 km to Sweden and enjoy the memories of an exiting adventure. Being able to trust the equipment and returning home secure and with a taste for more. Maybe the next adventure is already in the planning.
