Edward Bloor ’68 had his one-act play “Honor Flight” performed at the 6th Annual Conservative Theatre Festival in Dublin, Ohio last September.

This summer, former ND Classmates, Pat Robillard ’68 Gerding, Pauline Lytle ’68, Pat McNamara ’68 Murdock and Kathy Stoka ’68 Meyer reconnected after 54 years. The foursome toured Notre Dame, stirring special memories of their ND experience. Exactly 50 years to the day (and time), former ND faculty member, Ken Micai and his wife, alumna, Maryann Soltis ’70 Micai celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 28, 2021. The couple renewed their vows in a ceremony at Notre Dame and celebrated with close family and friends in the Student Center. Pictured are Dr. and Mrs. Micai (right) and their son and daughter-in-law, Jill and Eric Micai ’92 (left).

Marion Zukas ’72 is putting her BFA to good use as a self-employed interior designer. She has completed projects in Hamilton and Cranbury, NJ and is also enjoying sketching and painting.

Joseph Forman ’74 is in his 37th year of teaching Theology in high school. He is currently on faculty at Holy Cross of San Antonio.

William Saraceni ’77 retired from the Army in 2011 and went to work for the State of New Jersey. He has since retired from that position and is enjoying hobbies and traveling around the country with his wife Nancie to visit friends and their five grandchildren. In a recent note to Notre Dame, Rosemarie Picone ’83 Flood shared that since 2007 she has been working as a Director of Religious Education at St. John the Evangelist Church in Bergenfield, NJ. She is also a founder and volunteer at the American Special Children’s Pilgrimage Group.

Laura Smith ’87 Geltch, Grants, Communication & Sponsorship Coordinator at Hamilton Township School District recently shared that the District was recognized by the New Jersey School Public Relations Association (NJSPRA) with a 2021 School Communications Award in the category of Marketing, Branding, Image for their submission titled, Nottingham High School's Virtual Orientation Choice Board, an online, interactive information portal. They also won for a video submission, Commercial Design and Illustration.

1980’s cont‘d

ND brothers, Scott Burns ’90 (left) and Jim Burns ’88 had a surprise reunion with Christine King ’88 O’Reilly at the Beach Haven Fire Department party in October. The Irish ties are strong even after 30+ years.

John Bochiaro ’93 was recently promoted to Vice President, Game Presentation of the National Hockey League where he oversees in-venue experiences for all NHL tent pole events including the Winter Classic, NHL All Star Weekend and Stadium Series games. He also works closely with all NHL teams and assists with their arena experience and production. John is pictured right with NHL great, Wayne Gretsky. William Augustin ’94 wrote a show called "But I'm a Cheerleader: The Musical" that ran to great reviews in London and the West End.

Dr. Jerry Mangine ’98 is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Kennesaw State (GA). Jerry is a recent recipient of the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Terry J. Housh Outstanding Young Investigator Award and is a current nominee for the 2022 Educator of the Year Award.

2000’s

After COVID postponed their first attempt, Kara DeSalvo ’04 and Sam Milazzo finally tied the knot on August 8, 2021. ND alumni in attendance included Amanda Caputo ’04 DeRose (not pictured, Joe DeRose ’04), Stephanie Baciuska ’04 Silverman, Devon Humphries ’04 Abruzzee, Eleni Patounas ’04 Neel, Julie Brennfleck ’04 Gustafuson, David Nemeth ’03, Joseph Petitto ’04, Joseph Tykarsky ’04, Thomas Roberto ’04, Laura Harrington ’05 Roberto and Victoria DeSalvo ’07.

Mr. Jaime Gibilisco ’10 and his AP Government class welcomed Notre Dame alumnus, Rich Widmann ’07, a product attorney at Google, as their guest speaker this past spring. The class reviewed two case studies pertaining to privacy issues and the 4th Amendment. Rich ended his virtual visit by taking questions from students about his background and career choice. Ashley Mont ’10 Montjohnson recently co-founded an all women owned biomedical device company. NeuroTechR3 provides personalized rehabilitation solutions using Exergame technologies for improving hand and arm functions in individuals suffering from the effects of brain injury and musculoskeletal impairments.

Michael Lynn ’13 was accepted into a PhD program in the Political Science Department at The University of Pennsylvania to begin in the Fall 2022. Mike has a BS from Penn State, a JD from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an MA from SUNY – University of Buffalo. Madhura Berman ’13 Scott and Dylan Scott ’13 were wed on May 28.

Alex Covello ’17 is working for her dream company, BuzzFeed as a Video Fellow. Alex is a 2021 graduate of Elon University where she interned for Mandalay Sports Media and Netflix.

Mrs. Cindy Bannon and Mrs. Peggy Calamia ’75 Wroblewski were happy to be reunited with ND alumna Julianne Dela Cruz ‘17 at the Model UN competition. Julianne ’17 is the Secretary General of Rutgers Model United Nations.

Kameron McKithen ’17 is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Game Day Staff as part of their merchandising team. Kameron is a law student at Villanova Charles Widger School of Law.

Former ND teammates and Pitt and Army rivals (left to right) Steven Graver ’20, Tatem Levins ’18 and Robbie Buecker ’19 caught up with each other at the Armed Forces Invitational in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Michael Blotto ’19, a junior at the University of Alabama (UA) was recently selected for the 109th class of the Jasons Senior Men's honorary, UA's oldest and most prestigious honor society. The Jasons was founded to highlight the top 40 rising male seniors who display excellence in academics, campus involvement and community service. Michael was selected out of a pool of 100 applicants who were nominated by on campus organizations. His involvement on campus includes being president the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, serving as the Director of Student Involvement on the IT & Webmaster Cabinet for the student government association, director of chapter and leadership services for UA’s Greek programming board, UA Interfraternity Council executive committee as well as being a member of UA’s Management Consulting Academy, and the Alabama Information Management Society. Michael is a Management Information Systems major and will graduate with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in MIS in spring 2023. Jason Merendino ’19, a junior at the University of Hartford, was recently honored with the Junior Regents Award. This honor recognizes two students of each of the seven colleges at the University of Hartford with the highest GPA. Jason is one of the top two in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture and will graduate in 2023 with a degree in Architectural Design and Technology with a concentration in Construction Management. Jason was also invited to join The University of Hartford Gamma Nu Chapter of Tau Sigma Delta which is made up of students who have distinguished themselves in their architectural education, and academically reflects the top 20% of the student body.

ND Softball Coach Marty Schafer traveled to North Carolina to see two former players square off against each other at the start of the college softball season. 2020’s

Katie Black ’20 was recently accepted into the Disney College program through Elizabethtown College and worked and studied in the most magical place on earth this past spring.

Duke University sophomore, Seamus Harding ’20, finished second in men’s platform diving to earn All-ACC honors during the ACC Swimming and Diving Championship. Seamus recorded a score of 376.30, the third highest score in program history, and placed second in the event. He earned his first career All-ACC honor and Duke's fourth honor of the 2022 ACC Championship, marking the most in a single championship since the Blue Devils recorded six in 2014. Former ND baseball teammates and current Mercer County Community College sluggers Jacob Kmiec ’19, Brayden Meskill ’20 and Ryan Conover ’20 recently celebrated their team's wins in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) – Region 19 Championship and the East District Championship.

Lauren Lencovich ’21 was recognized by the Mt. Carmel Guild as a student volunteer for service work she completed while a student at Notre Dame. During the early months of the COVID pandemic, Lauren organized a “drop-off food drive” to benefit the charity, and was instrumental in ND’s Toys for Tots campaign as well as other donation drives. Vicky Ramirez ’21, a sophomore at Duke University studying Psychology on a Pre-Med track, was accepted as one of 18 out of a pool of over 100 applicants to be an Alice M. Baldwin Scholar. The program inspires and supports female undergraduate students to become engaged, confident and connected leaders in the Duke community and beyond.
