Annual Report

July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025

A Year in Review

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to share The Breman’s Annual Report, highlighting key programs and measurable impact from the past fiscal year and the exciting momentum carrying us forward. Since 1996, The Breman has served as a cornerstone of Jewish history, culture, and heritage in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, and today our reach, visibility, and partnerships are stronger than ever. With deep gratitude to the funders, partners, and champions who sustain this work, we are not only reflecting on a year of growth, we are building on it. Our expanded programs, new collaborations with leading arts and cultural institutions, and increasing public engagement are positioning The Breman for even greater community impact in the years ahead. As we grow, we remain committed to honoring memory, inspiring resilience, and sharing Jewish stories that connect people across generations and backgrounds. The energy around our exhibitions, arts programming, and educational initiatives a !rms both our relevance and our future. We are excited about what lies ahead and the meaningful role The Breman will continue to play in strengthening community, deepening understanding, and creating powerful cultural experiences.

Memorable Moment

Alfred Uhry and “Parade”

The Breman is tremendously proud of our honoring and hosting renowned playwright and screenwriter Alfred Uhry. His award-winning musical Parade, centered on the story of Leo Frank, premiered in New York City in 1998 and earned a Tony Award for Best Revival in 2023. The Breman hosted a dinner in his honor at The Temple, followed by his visit to the Alfred Uhry Section of History with Chutzpah, where he was deeply moved by photographs from his youth and The Breman’s extensive Leo Frank collection.

Uhry also attended the Fox Theatre’s April 2 performance, reflecting on how powerfully the story resonates, noting its emotional impact is “all about the times we are living in.” Cast members visited The Breman and shared that engaging with The Breman deepened their connection to the production, reinforcing our message of resilience, acceptance, and hope.

“It’s all about the times we are living in.” – Alfred Uhry

Amid rising tension and uncertainty, The Breman remains committed to supporting Jewish communities and fostering understanding. We honor our founders’ vision by preserving meaningful artifacts, sharing powerful stories about Jewish peoplehood, and presenting inspiring programs. Nearly 68% of our programs are o"ered free of charge, providing access, connection, and learning. The Breman continues to be a welcoming gathering place where dialogue fosters understanding, connection, and strength.

Looking Ahead

We embrace The Breman’s future with the same sense of anticipation that inspired our founders. As we plan a new chapter, we remain focused on mission alignment, expanding our reach, developing innovative programming, and strengthening partnerships. Our vision is clear: to shine a light on a community rooted in mutual respect and understanding that resonates deeply with the thousands who visit The Breman each year.

Making Our Future Possible

We invite you to explore our Annual Report, which highlights how philanthropic support has strengthened The Breman’s sustainability. Steeped in history and tradition, the museum continues to grow as a thriving cultural center. Your investment allows our board and sta " to enter 2026 with renewed energy as we plan dynamic programs and exhibitions for our milestone 30th Anniversary. Past and present supporters have shaped our journey, and we welcome all to join us in the year ahead. Together, we will continue inspiring educators, students, and audiences.

Recent Accomplishments

• “Let’s Talk Genealogy,” a presentation with the Jewish Genealogical Society of Georgia that informed participants about the latest databases and resources that are available for researching family history.

• “I’ve Got Levys in My Genes: An Introduction to Jewish Genealogy” was co-presented with the Atlanta History Center. Author and genealogist Gary Deutsch gave a presentation followed by a workshop with members of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Georgia.

• Archivist Kayley Rapp presented “Exploring Religious Archives for Genealogy” for the Georgia Archives.

• The Historic Jewish Atlanta Tours has had several excursions including tours of the Atlanta Oakland Cemetery with Dr. Marni Davis, associate professor of history at Georgia State University, and an exploration of the Summerhill neighborhood with 5th generation Atlantan Joel Silverman.

• The Archives is implementing LiDAR, or light detection and ranging, to scan objects from the archival collection into 3D models that can be shared online. This cutting-edge technology will enable us to showcase a more immersive experience for visitors near and far.

I feel as though The Breman already consistently offers a lovely array of programs. Although I love the exhibits and just meandering through the rooms and reading and learning, I especially enjoy interactive author presentations, music, and anything related to history. The Breman is one of my favorite places to be.”
