Dog Dynamo
Meet Dyson, a fairly new resident of Buck Hill, joining the community in March of 2022. Dyson is a rare lemon beagle (his coat only has two colors instead of the more traditional three) and was rescued from a puppy mill in Ohio. He resides with Kat and Emil Sturniolo at cottage 74 on Golf Drive. True to his name, Dyson is a four-legged vacuum cleaner, inside the house and out. He is quite inquisitive and loves to sniff, chase, and taste almost everything (shadows, leaves, acorns, rocks, twigs, plants, squirrels, chipmunks, birds.) Just over a year old, he is very much a puppy and is still learning his manners. If you meet him during his daily constitutionals around the area, please stop and say hello. He is very sociable and always happy to greet a friendly hand. Dyson surely agrees that there is no better place to be a dog than Buck Hill Falls.

The Big 5-0

Congratulations to Jean and Milan
Kofol who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 16. Theirs is a true Buck Hill love story: they met in BH, honeymooned here, and have been here on-and-off for most of their lives. Their grandchildren, Cricket and George, are fifth-generation Buck Hillers.

Creepy Crawly
Harold Rubin caught this guy sunning in the yard hard by the side entrance to their cottage. Not knowing the type of snake, he photographed the creature and sent it off to Ranger Joe asking for help identifying it. Sure enough, within several hours Joe wrote back: “That is a fully grown Eastern Garter Snake. This snake is non-venomous and common in PA. If you struggle with slugs in your garden, then this is a great friend to you in combating them.” Nice to have Joe on the case and to know these snakes can help with the slug offensive.

Welcome
Please give a warm welcome to these new Cottagers: Chris & Caroline Goodchild
Chris and Caroline Goodchild, along with daughters, Dorothy, Frances, and Beatrice are excited to be joining the Buck Hill Falls Community. The Goodchilds live full-time in the Art Museum District of Philadelphia. Growing up, Chris and Caroline spent their summers on the Jersey Shore and Cape Cod respectively, and are looking forward to making their own home at 4106 Valley View Road on weekends and holidays. The whole crew expects to enjoy all the amazing outdoor activities that BHF has to offer.

A Good Cause
The second Annual Ladies’ Luncheon on Sunday May 7 was a big success. There were plenty of canned food contributions for C.A.M.E. (our local food pantry) as well as donations totaling $4,000. The Christine Shirley Boutique joined us again, displaying gifts for purchase, and attendees were served a delicious three-course lunch. The whole affair was organized by cottager extraordinare Beth Goldwater.
