Letter From The Editor
It’s spring at last. And even though it’s the same every year, it’s still thrilling to witness this seasonal reawakening. But Mother Nature doesn’t have a monopoly on renewal; just walk about the community and you will witness many cottages undergoing renovation. There are some big changes where additions are popping up (or whole houses for that matter); others lean toward more modest improvements. All of them make our built environment an even more pleasing visual treat. We are fortunate that the founding Quakers built these lovely cedar and stone dwellings in an enduring and appealing style. Our goal now as the current stewards is to respect that original mindset, albeit with an eye toward making some of these 100+-year-old-cottages work for how we live today. Even modern conveniences, with thoughtful planning, needn’t infringe on the character of our cottages. If you want to add on, enhance, change colors, or make any other significant exterior changes to your cottage, you need approval from the Architectural Design Review Committee. They are here to preserve the integrity of our community, ever sensitive to building styles, and codes, and colors, and current needs, so that we can honor the very distinct character of the original community. The newer golf cottages have guidelines to protect their aesthetic continuity, too. For guidance on the ADRC procedure, just touch base with the Company Office. Stay well.

Puppy Love
Me et Cooper, a seven-year old Cavachon (Bichon/ Cavalier Spaniel mix). Equally at home in Buck Hill or New York City, he loves to go to the dog park and sit on peoples’ laps. But one thing that drives him crazy are dogs and other animals on TV. He barks at all manifestations of animals, cartoon characters, statues, etc. and runs around in a frenzy until the scene is over. In real life, he’s wary of other dogs, but just loves people, including his peeps Jean and Milan Kofol, who love him right back.

People

Adventure Seekers
Agroup of Cottagers headed to New York City for Chestnut Mountain Productions’ film forum featuring award-winning shorts from the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival. The event was hosted and organized by local resident Tom Widing. The audience was totally transfixed by the exciting environmental, action, and adventure films shown.
Florida Fun
Snow bird Cottagers who hunker down on Florida’s east coast for all or part of the winter arranged a rendezvous with fellow Cottagers near Stuart. Meeting under the bougainvillea trellis in an outside garden were Fritz Favorule and Lynn Krohn, George and Sue Ketigian, Karen Walden and Harold Rubin (and John and Ann Caggiano, not shown) who enjoyed catching up with Buck Hill friends.
