Face ‫رياضة الوجه‬ Fitness By Anna Amori

EVERY

woman wishes to keep her face youthful and spends a great deal of time, effort, and money to keep the young, taunt glowing skin. It is a fact of life that the aging process does take a toll on our face. Many antiaging creams do keep the wrinkles at bay but how about the sagging skin? Many turn to the expensive, risky solution of going under the knife and have a face lift. Even though a face lift might bring back some of your youth back into your face, if it is done correctly and does not distort your face, the muscles in the face will need upkeep. Like the body to keep it in shape and toned exercise and diet is a must the face is full of muscles and face fitness is an alternative to a face lift, not to mention less painful. As we get older the muscles in our face begin to elongate (stretch). Of course mainly our muscles shape our skin so as they begin to stretch out skin begins to sag. This is the type of action face toning exercise can reverse. It only involves a few minutes of our time on a day-to-day basis, and it could be done while we are driving and waiting for the red light to turn green, while watching TV, or while putting on our face creams in the morning or at night. The following are Sample face toning exercises that are taken from face-exercise-and-face-lifts.com.   Eye face toning exercise: Sitting up straight with your eyes closed and relaxed. While keeping your eyes closed, lift your eyebrows and stretching your eyelids down as far as possible. Hold this for a count of 5, release the position and relax. Repeat 5 times. Cheek face toning exercise: Make a relaxed smile while keeping your lips closed. Suck in your cheeks towards your teeth, touching them if possible. Hold the position and count to 10. Relax for a moment, and repeat 10 times. Forehead face toning exercise: Again sitting

Summer ‫نشاطات صيفية‬ Activities

One might think we barely are enjoying the gorgeous spring weather and natural beauty surrounding this season to start thinking about summer. Well, with one quarter to go before the kids are out of school and at home 24/7 summer activities are an issue. The sooner parents resolve this issue the better. First, what activities are out there? What activities would my child enjoy and at the same time benefit him? Finally, what activities would cause minimal stress both on parents and child in terms of money and transportation? The summer season offers many activities that in the other seasons are more difficult to enjoy, such as water sports. Many cities offer swimming classes for young children at a very reasonable price. Parents may check out the Parks and Recreation Department of their city for their schedule of classes. Furthermore, for older kids diving and competitive swimming are also offered and what a great way to get kids away from the t.v. and reap the health benefits of a wonderful sport. Another great way to spend the summer around the water is fishing. Fishing is a loved sport by both parents and children because both can take part in it. Ron Brooks, expert on fishing believes, “Fishing teaches kids an entire set of values. Aside from the outdoors and nature, kids can learn what life is all about. They can learn what it means to be able to feed people. For catch and release they can learn conservation. For something to do when they get “bored”, the challenge of catching a fish can keep them out of potential trouble brought about by boredom.”

Now, if you prefer the indoors over outdoor activities learning a musical instrument might be the artistic outlet for you. For example, learning to play the guitar is always “awesome” to most youngsters. However, parents should bear in mind that this activity requires more financial output on the parent’s part. If you are going to play a guitar owning a guitar is important. Next, is finding an instructor to give beginning guitar lessons. The rest is left on the shoulders on the student because practice makes perfect after all.

In addition to all the above activities look into all the activities offered by the local libraries and community centers such as computer building skills, arts and crafts, dancing, karate, and so forth.

Plan a fishing trip to the nearby lake or when you plan the summer camping trip for the family take advantage and spend long lazy afternoons by the lakeside. Speaking of camping there are many camps with a focus on a variety of interests available in the summer. Ennabe is no stranger when it comes to a hectic and rigorous environment. Being the middle child of 5 kids, Nancy has been figuring out how to thrive and succeed from day one. A Jordanian American, Nancy has been educated with the elite at Cambridge University as she took her business savvy and entrepreneur like personality to a whole other level working as an accountant and managing two major firms in Southern California. Involved with groups such as the Network of Arab American Professionals, and a volunteer for the counselor of Honduras, Nancy Ennabe is emerging as one of the century’s leading advocate for the Arab community. Yet beneath the corporate driven woman, Nancy finds her true calling by assisting children around the world in need of aid. During her course as an undergraduate student, Ennabe volunteered her spare time as a math tutor in low income schools in her area. She provided her superior skills in the field of mathematics to children who were struggling and found certain concepts difficult to comprehend. “I believe that adults lose the ability to dream, not because they have grown older, but because they have become jaded from their experiences.  I wanted children to know that although they will face hardships it is important that they dream and work hard to achieve

their dream,” stated Ennabe.

Ennabe’s efforts to make a change in this world continue to grow on a daily basis. The night after her birthday in 2007, Ennabe’s cousin, Andrew, was involved in a fatal car accident. Although his life was taken, Nancy made sure his legacy would live on. Ennabe helped create the Andrew Ennabe Foundation that was founded by Christina and Faiez Ennabe in 2007, with the mission of helping kids across the world in need. The Andrew Ennabe Foundation currently involved in helping a young Palestinian girl who needs her leg to be amputated. With the help of Dr. Samir Taleel, a member of the UCLA medical staff, The Andrew Ennabe Foundation and Dr. Taleel are applying their most valiant efforts in saving the young child from such a horrific ordeal.

Being the pioneer within the Arab community that she is, Nancy is attempting to unify Arabs across the nation and show the world the love, sincerity, and warmth that they have to provide. Nancy realized this is not going to be an over night success, rather a mission that will require much effort and time to become successful. “I realized that our community would not improve unless I and others stepped forward to help. I also knew that it would not be enough to do it one day a year but that I would have to help on a continuous basis to see results. I know that I have the capacity to do great things and I hope that others will leverage their capacity so that together we can make a change.”

Planning a Wedding Reception By Janan Atiyeh It is so exciting and exhilarating when a couple gets engaged. When planning a wedding reception make sure you and your future spouse keep those feelings because it could be overwhelming and stressful tending to every detail of the wedding reception. The first on the list of to do things is to set the date because even when the bride is looking for her dress they will want to know the date. It is more cost effective if the date is set on a week day and in some locations having the wedding reception on a Sunday costs less than a Saturday. Also, the time of year makes a big difference. In the winter months wedding receptions are less expensive than in the spring or summer months. After the date has been set the budget needs to set and do not forgot to include all the essentials for the reception such as clothes, invitations, flowers, photography, videography, favors, cake, and other costs such as a band or disc jockey. Of course, do not forget the reception hall. Searching for a hall you must have in mind the number of guests you wish to invite to the joyous occasion. Since most halls charge by the head count and the size of the room depends also depends on the number of guests it is better to overestimate than underestimate the guest list.

for Gaza

raising funds & awareness By Rashad Al-Dabbagh Rallies, dinners, concerts, and hookahs were forms of action taken by the propeace community in Southern California after the latest brutal Israeli incursion into Gaza that left over 1,300 people dead and over 5000 injured. ‘Get Down 4 Gaza’ was a small fund raiser that attracted over 300 at Juanita’s restaurant in Los Angeles raised over $1,700 to help the victims of war crimes in Gaza. The event, which took place on January 10 after a mass march and rally, was organized by Spoken Word artists and activist Mark Gonzales who spent a few months in the West Bank in 2003. It brought together hip hop and spokenword artists and DJ’s who told the story of Palestine to a crowd that reflected the diverse population of Southern California. Gonzales expressed his satisfaction with this event, which was wellattended by an ethnically-diverse audience. He has been working to building bridges between communities for years to raise awareness about various local and global causes with an intense focus on the plight of the Palestinians.

Palestinian-American Delegation Awards Bolivian and

Turkish Consuls LOS ANGELES - A delegation of PalestinianAmericans visited the consulates of Bolivia and Turkey, on March 2, 2009, to thank their governments and people for their support of the people of Gaza, Palestine.

The delegation first visited the Consulate of Bolivia, where they met with Consul General Marco Antonio Cuba Marino. They then visited the Consulate of Turkey and met with Consul General R. Hakan Tekin. The delegates expressed their appreciation to the governments and people of both countries for their support of the Palestinians in Gaza and their condemnation of Israel for its war against Gaza. The Consul Generals assured the delegation that they would convey their visit and message to their governments. At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented each Consul General with a plaque.

Performed brilliantly at the benefit event for Gaza Dr Raymond Jallow Chairman Friends of MESTO Several organizations in Southern California felt strongly to support the people of Gaza for their suffering from the war on their land. There were more than thousand attending the event including educators, businessmen & women, civic leaders, human rights advocates and students from many universities. The event took place at the large and impressive Bovard Auditorium at the University of Southern California. The popular singer Woroud was applauded energetically and repeatedly for her popular songs adored by the audience. Incidentally both MESTO and Woroud had very short notice to rehearse their music and they both did remarkably successful.
