“Alexa, when is my next bin day?”

Breckland Council has launched a new service via the Amazon Alexa smart speaker which will enable Breckland residents to find out more about local council services. This includes asking which bin is due for collection, a common occurrence for most households each week.

The new Alexa service is the first to be delivered by a council in Norfolk. Alexa can not only provide bin collection updates, but offer advice on recycling at home, how to report a fly tip in the Breckland area and much more.

The launch of our chatbot on Amazon, using Artificial Intelligence technology, is just the beginning as we already have plans to enhance its functionality and expertise over the coming months as users ask it more questions.
