Through art, Breckenridge expresses itself as a town like no other, where the simple charms of our surroundings connect the most unlikely of neighbors: hunters to hippies, liberals to libertarians, beer drinkers to cosmic thinkers. Here, everyone has a voice they are encouraged to express. And the melody they create is anything but monotone.

BreckCreate drives home the importance of the arts in establishing Breckenridge’s identity. It motivates the sharing of fresh perspectives; it entices those from outside the local community to engage Breckenridge as a creative destination. It promises an evolving experience that reinvigorates the soul with every return visit.

BRECKENRIDGE ARTS DISTRICT The Breckenridge Arts District is the region’s newest epicenter of creativity, bringing together studios, galleries, performance spaces, historic landmarks, public art, restaurants, cafés and other creative businesses that animate and populate a vibrant cultural corridor in downtown Breckenridge.

The Arts District’s core attraction is a multi-facility arts campus that hosts workshops, exhibits, artists-in-residence and a variety of other activities for locals and visitors alike. With a focus on educational and experiential enrichment, programs include classes in several media such as textiles, ceramics, metalwork, painting and more. Complete with decorative plazas and sculpture gardens, the Arts District campus serves as a community gathering place and a catalyst for creative expression in Breckenridge.

BRECKENRIDGE PUBLIC ART The Breckenridge public art collection engages passersby from all walks of life, inciting conversation around topics that are quintessentially Breckenridge, from the picturesque mountain environment to rich local history. Pieces in the permanent collection occupy carefully-selected public spaces throughout town, and are thoughtfully curated to enhance the collective aesthetic experience of locals and visitors alike. In addition to the permanent collection, temporary and ephemeral installations bolster the experience of Breckenridge as a haven for creativity high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Pickens furthered her metalsmithing education at the Denver School of Metal Arts in 2015. Today, she designs silver and turquoise jewelry inspired by the American Southwest in her home studio. Her jewelry has a fresh approach to traditional Southwest design that has been enthusiastically embraced by local and national boutiques. Pickens looks forward to sharing her passion for silversmithing through open studios and workshops at the Hot Shop.

FLORAL PARK, NY Sarah Langsam earned her BFA from the University of Delaware in 2013. She has exhibited across the country, most notably the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Langsam’s organic material arrangements have earned her multiple awards and residencies.

She explores themes of identity, relationships, and vitality. Langsam is interested in having the viewer join her in the creative process. By working collaboratively and sharing her ideas with communities, she is able to study art through the eyes of others. Langsam will be the resident artist at the Tin Shop in August.

During that time, she will be creating an environmental installation for Trail Mix as a part of the Breckenridge International Festival of Arts.

JOIN ARTS OFF-PISTE Arts Off-Piste is a membership program for emerging culture enthusiasts interested in exploring art, music and other creative terrain. Members enjoy access to behind-the-scenes and after-hours programs at the Arts District and around the Breckenridge community. Exclusive events throughout the year include artist-led workshops, studio tours, social events, and more.

An education as well as a social group, Arts Off-Piste offers members the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded peers through adventurous, creative experiences in our diverse mountain town. The program is geared towards individuals in their 20s to 40s, but membership is open to all ages.
