BRECKENRIDGE CREATIVE ARTS | BRECKCREATE
Through art, Breckenridge expresses itself as a town like no other, where the simple charms of our surroundings connect the most unlikely of neighbors: hunters to hippies, liberals to libertarians, beer drinkers to cosmic thinkers. Here, everyone has a voice they are encouraged to express. And the melody they create is anything but monotone. BreckCreate drives home the importance of the arts in establishing Breckenridge’s identity. It motivates the sharing of fresh perspectives; it entices those from outside the local community to engage Breckenridge as a creative destination. It promises an evolving experience that reinvigorates the soul with every return visit.
BRECKENRIDGE ARTS DISTRICT The Breckenridge Arts District is the region’s newest epicenter of creativity, bringing together studios, galleries, performance spaces, historic landmarks, public art, restaurants, cafés and other creative businesses that animate and populate a vibrant cultural corridor in downtown Breckenridge. The Arts District’s core attraction is a multi-facility arts campus that hosts workshops, exhibits, artists-in-residence and a variety of other activities for locals and visitors alike. With a focus on educational and experiential enrichment, programs include classes in several media such as textiles, ceramics, metalwork, painting and more. Complete with decorative plazas and sculpture gardens, the Arts District campus serves as a community gathering place and a catalyst for creative expression in Breckenridge. The Breckenridge Arts District is a Colorado-Certified Creative District. Visit breckcreate.org for more information. 24-hour pre-registration required for workshops. All materials included unless otherwise noted. * Space is limited for FREE events; first-come, first-served.

Bernadette Foley + Christopher Simoni Breckenridge Candle Cabin BRECKENRIDGE, CO
Breckenridge Candle Cabin was envisioned while Bernadette and Christopher were living in a tiny cabin in the woods in Breckenridge. This cabin had no electricity, so during those long, cold winter nights they burned A LOT of candles. They wanted to make a candle that wouldn’t cause harm to them or the environment, so the duo started making candles with soy wax scented with pure essential oils. Today, every candle is still hand made in Breckenridge in their studio on the Arts District campus.

BREW: IDEAS + CREATION LAB BRECKENRIDGE THEATER | THU, APR 20, 6-8PM
Presented by Breckenridge Creative Arts
breckcreate.org
Topic: Art + The Ecologic Experience Globalization, development, consumption, the modern world is changing how we view landscapes and the people within it. Staff from High Country Conservation Center will explore how we interpret the natural world through art using film excerpts from Art21’s Ecology. How can art activate our sense of place and relationship with the environment? How does nature evolve through our interpretation of it? Can we better utilize art to tell the story of changing landscapes and motivate communities to imagine a more sustainable and harmonic future? Come be a part of the conversation. BREW is a salon series that provides thought-provoking discussion for and among creative professionals with varied topics designed to engage and inspire. Part party, part conversation, the series is curated by guest artists and features local craft beverages. Join us for the entire evening, or drop-in for part of the discussion.

Docent training takes places on Mondays, March 6, 13, 20 + 27 from 5:30-7pm. Upon completion of the training program, students will be invited to apply for a position as a BCA docent, with applicants agreeing to a minimum six-month service commitment. Docent benefits include a one-year BCA membership and a modest stipend upon completion of a season of tours. For more information, please contact Becca Spiro at 970 453 3187, ext. 7.
