We ask that you take off anger, fear, malice, jealousy, rage, and take a deep breath so that you can experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfullness, and self control.

My Mental Health: Do I Need Help?

First, determine how much your symptoms interfere with your daily life.

Do I have mild symptoms that have lasted for less than 2 weeks?

• Feeling a little down • Feeling down, but still able to do job, schoolwork, or housework

• Some trouble sleeping • Feeling down, but still able to take care of yourself or take care of others

If so, here are some self-care activities that can help: • Eating healthy • Exercising (e.g., aerobics, yoga) • Engaging in social contact (virtual or in person) • Talking to a trusted friend or family member • Practicing meditation, relaxation, • Getting adequate sleep on a regular schedule and mindfulness If the symptoms above do not improve or seem to be worsening despite self-care efforts, talk to your health care provider.

TAKE IT OFF What happens when we decide to take it all off? Take off EVERYTHING. What happens when we take off the clothes, the shoes, the fear, the struggles, the stress, the striving, the anger, and everything that keeps you bound in chains and afraid to move forward?

Is it possible that when we look at ourselves in the mirror without all those things we have decided to take off, our lives will feel lighter, brighter, hopeful, and makes things easier for us to move forward? Is it possible that the lightness will give the wind the opportunity to sweep us off our feet and gently move us forward without hesitation or struggle?

What happens when we take off the expectations of ourselves and others? Is it possible that we might have the opportunity to see what is before us a little clearer and without obstruction?

What happens when we look at ourselves in the mirror with the truth staring us in the face? We have the opportunity to see every scar and imperfection that made us perfectly and beautifully in our fullness and depth from what we’ve experienced and been through. Is it possible that we might appreciate our lives in a deeper more meaningful way loving every challenge that we’ve endured but persevered?

What happens when we look at ourselves and no matter where we are we realize that we belong? We could be in a room of strangers and still feel a sense of being connected to every soul in the room. Is it possible that the reason that we feel connected is because we are indeed connected to ourselves in such a way that no person, place, or thing can take away your sense of belonging?

What happens when we trust our inner-selves to the point that we are brave enough to do things the world would tell us is impossible? When we take those necessary steps over and over again while learning from each step of the process with anticipation of expanding our ability to be stronger than we ever thought we could be? Is it possible that we will reach heights that are unheard of?

What happens when we are brave enough to lean in a little closer to people even when its uncomfortable?

We look a little deeper, listen a little more, trying to understand a different point of view or experience from our own. Is it possible that we might learn that we live in a world that has many different views, experiences, and

perspectives? Is it possible that we might start to really see each other as HUMANS again instead of social media personalities and trolls?

What happens when every experience becomes a learning experience instead of something that separates us from them? Instead of separating ourselves from unique differences, we move closer knowing that our lives will be enriched because we are growing in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control. Is it possible that we can stay strong in our own convictions without judging others for theirs?

Every aspect of our lives affects our Mental Health. We all go through things good and bad and we want to encourage each other to go a little deeper and challenge ourselves to take off and let go of things that aren’t meant for us to have on and to be brave enough to lean in a little closer, learn a little more, and embrace what our lives look like when we look at ourselves from the perspective of being completely NAKED AND BRAVE! EXPOSED AND VULNERABLE Where Did We Lose Our Clothes and Why Do We Feel So Vulnerable?

From the very beginning we were all given everything we needed in order to have a good life that included what we needed to live, move and breathe. We were connected to each other, connected to the earth, stars, moon, sun, fish, birds, and all the creatures living on earth that moved and breathed.

We were also given the authority to rule over those things as well. Everyone and everything connected in a way that brought life and the fullness of love was with us from the beginning.

Genesis 1:26-31 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may

rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God blessed them and said to them, “ Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over ever living creature that moves on the ground.”

Then God said, “ I give you every seed bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has seed in it. They will

God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning- the sixth day.

You don’t have to be a believer in God to know that we are all connected and we’re still very much connected to everything around us as well. A few examples would include how the stars are aligned in a way that provides us with information about our personalities and how we make decisions and why we act the way we do in our lives with astrology. Another example would be how a group of women from different areas can move into the same home and all the women will begin to cycle together with their menstruation cycle. I think another example would be good to note:

Our ancestors made choices that has passed down for thousands of years to the point that we no longer allow ourselves to be exposed and vulnerable anymore. We have learned the fear tactics of the world from the time that we were born until the time that we influence the thoughts that our grandchildren don’t get a chance to ask about.

We were given the ability to rule over all living things in the beginning. We were given much and had the opportunity to create, embrace, and connect on a deep level with everything and dwell in the presence of God at the same time.

~ Have you ever had a bad feeling that something was about to happen and you find out shortly after that something happened with someone that you knew? How would you know that if you weren’t connected? Some people love gardening and can grow and keep any plant alive, while some of us have a much harder time growing and keeping a cactus alive. Sometimes we are in-tuned with the people and living things that we are connected to and sometimes we are not. Let me make a huge point of the last sentence.

Sometimes we are in-tuned with PEOPLE AND LIVING THINGS, that we are connected to and sometimes we are NOT. God gave us authority to rule over all living creatures and living things. Somewhere along the line we lost some of those connections.

Being born has never changed. We all come into the world naked. We all come into the world carrying nothing but the love in our hearts and our connections to the people who were blessed to be apart of the miracle 23

Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

So what did our ancestors do? The same thing we probably would have done; they ate from the tree of good and evil. That was their choice, and we have been taught that the choice of good and evil is flexible. Let me say that again. We have been taught that the choice of good and evil is flexible.

We are the rulers of the earth, we get to determine what is good and evil based on what is best for us right?

That’s probably how Eve processed the command God gave. She thought about it and wondered what it would be like to know what the difference is. God gave us our brains to think and the right to choose.

He loved and respected us enough to tell us in advance what is good to do and what isn’t and why. He said that if we knew the knowledge of good and evil we would certainly die. That’s Huge. When the serpent spoke to Eve, he already knew what she didn’t and I’m sure he was probably given a choice of knowing good and evil at one point too. We are all ALWAYS GIVEN A CHOICE. Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden?”

Here’s the thing, Eve had to go off of what Adam told her because she wasn’t created yet.

God told Adam the command in Genesis 2:16. He created Eve in Genesis 2:21.

In Genesis 2:25 the Bible says, “ Adam and his wife were both naked and they felt no shame.

What is Shame? A painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior.

The symptoms of shame includes: wanting to disappear, causes people to want to bury their heads; it makes a person what to pull out of connection with another person.

People who have shame often react with anger, self-blame, and addiction. Shame typically comes when you look inward with a critical eye and evaluate yourself harshly, often for things you have little control over.

This negative self evaluation often has its roots in messages you’ve received from others.

That serpent was very crafty and knew that if he could just make her rethink and adjust what God said, what Adam told her, and make it flexible, perhaps she would disobey what was really true, right, and pure. Eve was in a vulnerable situation and the serpent was exposing some of the questions she

Remember that we are connected to every living thing. We know in our hearts when something is wrong. We don’t have to wait for our brains to confirm it because we feel it in our heart and body.

Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

They saw what they did wrong and felt what they had done in their bodies first. They hurried up and made clothes to try to COVER UP what they had done wrong. We’ve been covering up ever since….. Shame settled in and I’m here today to ask you to take off your GRAVE CLOTHES.

probably had in her head from the time Adam told her about the command. God created us with a brain to think and a free will to choose. Eve had a choice to make. Do I obey what I was told because it is the right thing to do? Or do I do I get the answers to some of the questions in my head even though I know that it is wrong? Everyone has questions , thoughts, doubts, and the drive to want answers to things we don’t know.

God made a way for us to be redeemed. He made a way for us to heal from our bad choices in life. He made a way for us to be EXPOSED, VULNERABLE, AND LOVED at the same time.

WE have a choice to make. God told us Adam that by eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil he will surely die. But what Adam didn’t know was that God loved him so much that He would send His one and only son to redeem the ALL of His children. He wasn’t going to let a mistake keep Him from loving what He created in His image. You are loved and you matter to God. John 11: 14-17 So then Jesus told them plainly, “ Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” Then Thomas said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”

On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.

How long have you been in your tomb? I personally feel like I’ve been in my tomb the majority of my life. I’ve allowed the world to dictate how long I would be dead. I let the world give me flexible limits and flexible rules that has been good for the world, but has left me exposed and vulnerable even though I felt it in my heart and body what was wrong.

When I was five years old, the Lord spoke to my heart and I’ve spent the last forty years wondering in the dessert trying to carry things that were never meant for me to carry. I was born naked, vulnerable, exposed, and I was given EVERYTHING I needed to live a good life according to God’s good and perfect will for me.

2 Peter 1: 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very 25

reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self control; and to selfcontrol, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Fall has come full circle my friend. Here is a command that instead of showing you certain death, gives you eternal life. Instead of being introduced to the knowledge of good and evil you have the ability to see and possess the knowledge of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control.

You have a choice to make…

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Let’s go back to our original question at the beginning.

Where Did We Lose Our Clothes and Why Do We Feel So Vulnerable?

Jesus said to Martha, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

John 11:35 “ Jesus wept.

I believe that Jesus wept because He knew that some still did not believe in him. He knew what was going to happen with Lazarus, yet he still wept. There are so many who has the opportunity to live in Him, but still refuse to believe.

John 11: 40- 44 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “ Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”

When he said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “LAZARUS, COME OUT!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.

Jesus said to THEM, “Take off the grave clothiers and let him go.”

Can you hear Jesus telling you to take off your grave clothes?

You have a choice to make.

Where are you right now? Who is with you as you read this article? What time is it?

If you’re ready for change take a deep breath in and out, it’s your gift from God and by His Grace that you have been saved.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for loving me enough to send your one and only Son Jesus into my life to save me from certain death that was put on me from the beginning of time.

I ask you to forgive me for all of my sins and help take off my grave clothes right now so that I can have eternal life in you. I believe Lord with all my heart and soul that Jesus is your Son, My Savior, and I want to commit my life and surrender it to your will. I believe Jesus died for me and was raised to life on the third day to completely redeem me from my sins and that from now until eternity I am your child. I no longer need to fear anything because your Holy Spirit in me will always guide my heart and I will be listen and be obedient. I’m not perfect but I’m made perfect in you now and always. I pray this in your Holy Name and by your blood Jesus, Amen!!!

Welcome to the world of vulnerability!

You are vulnerable now because your heart is filled with power that you don’t know how to use yet. You will question yourself and everything. You will be tested and challenged in ways that will seem impossible. Fear will want to control you, but don’t let it. Let the love of the Lord guide you. The vulnerability that you feel is good. You are open to the freedom that you have to love unconditionally without consequences.

Things You Should Know About Stress From the NATIONAL INSTITUTE of MENTAL HEALTH Everyone feels stressed from time to time, but what is stress? How does it affect your overall health? And what can you do to manage your stress?

Stress is how the brain and body respond to any demand. Any type of challenge—such as performance at work or school, a significant life change, or a traumatic event—can be stressful.

Stress can affect your health. It is important to pay attention to how you deal with minor and major stressors, so you know when to seek help.

Here are five things you should know about stress.

Stress affects everyone.

Everyone experiences stress from time to time. There are different types of stress—all of which carry physical and mental health risks. A stressor may be a one-time or short-term occurrence, or it can happen repeatedly over a long time. Some people may cope with stress more effectively and recover from stressful events more quickly than others.

Examples of stress include: • Routine stress related to the pressures of school, work, family, and other daily responsibilities.

• Stress brought about by a sudden negative change, such as losing a job, divorce, or illness.

• Traumatic stress experienced during an event such as a major accident, war, assault, or natural disaster where people may be in danger of being seriously hurt or killed. People who experience traumatic stress may have very distressing temporary emotional and physical symptoms, but most recover naturally soon after. Not all stress is bad.

In a dangerous situation, stress signals the body to prepare to face a threat or flee to safety. In these situations, your pulse quickens, you breathe faster, your muscles tense, and your brain uses more oxygen and increases activity—all functions aimed at survival and in response to stress. In non-life-threatening situations, stress can motivate people, such as when they need to take a test or interview for a new job.

Long-term stress can harm your health.

Coping with the impact of chronic stress can be challenging. Because the source of long-term stress is more constant than acute stress, the body never receives a clear signal to return to normal functioning. With chronic stress, those same lifesaving reactions in the body can disturb the immune, digestive, cardiovascular, sleep, and reproductive systems. Some people may experience mainly digestive symptoms, while others may have headaches, sleeplessness, sadness, anger, or irritability.

Over time, continued strain on your body from stress may contribute to serious health problems, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and other illnesses, including mental disorders such as depression (www.nimh.nih.gov/depression) or anxiety (www.nimh.nih.gov/anxietydisorders).

There are ways to manage stress.

If you take practical steps to manage your stress, you may reduce the risk of negative health effects. Here are some tips that may help you cope with stress: • Be observant. Recognize the signs of your body’s response to stress, such as difficulty sleeping, increased alcohol and other substance use, being easily angered, feeling depressed, and having low energy.

• Talk to your health care provider or a health professional. Don’t wait for your health care provider to ask about your stress. Start the conversation and get proper health care for existing or new health problems. Effective treatments can help if your stress is affecting your relationships or ability to work. Don’t know where to start? Read our Tips for Talking With Your Health Care Provider (www.nimh.nih.gov/talkingtips).

• Get regular exercise. Just 30 minutes per day of walking can help boost your mood and improve your health.

• Try a relaxing activity. Explore relaxation or wellness programs, which may incorporate meditation, muscle relaxation, or breathing exercises. Schedule regular times for these and other healthy and relaxing activities.

• Set goals and priorities. Decide what must get done now and what can wait. Learn to say “no” to new tasks if you start to feel like you’re taking on too much. Try to be mindful of what you have accomplished at the end of the day, not what you have been unable to do.

Children’s brain absorb information at an increasingly fast rate. They have the ability to learn a lot in a short period of time and remember that information for an extended amount of time. There are four cognitive stages to the development of a Childs brain according to LearningRx a brain training center that pairs clients with brain trainers for challenging yet fun mental games that help enhance cognitive skills.

The 4 Cognitive Stages include:

1.

Sensorimotor Stage- Birth- 2years.

During this stage, children learn about the world through their senses and the manipulation of objects.

2.

Pre-operational Stage- During this stage, children develop memory and imagination.

They are also able to understand things symbolically and to understand the ideas of the past and future.

3. Concrete Operational Stage- Age 7- 11.

During this stage , children become more aware of external events, as well as feelings other than their own.

They become less egocentric and begin to understand that not everyone shares their thoughts, beliefs, or feelings.

4. Formal Operational Stage- Ages 11- older- During this stage, 32

children are able to use logic to solve problems, view the world around them, and plan for the future.

It doesn’t take much convincing that children of all ages have had a hard time durning the last year dealing with all the changes that have taken place due to Covid-19 lockdowns and stay home orders. At a time when they would normally be in school, they instead needed to stay home and have their classes online. Some kids were used to using a computer on a regular basis and some students did not have a computer in their homes and both them and their parents needed to learn how to properly navigate the system. Parents needed to multi-task when possible to help teach their children and do their own work from home.

Teachers also needed to adjust to teaching kids from home and on computers.

For the first time in history, children and teachers were able to see into the homes of classmates and the circumstances to that which their peers lived. Unfortunately news reports have shown that some children witnessed things such as drug use, domestic violence, child abuse, neglect, nudity, murder, and suicide.

In addition to children learning and doing most of their school work online; we live in a world where people are getting information fast.

We’re at a rate that far exceeds our children’s ability to process the information in a time that allows health and safety precautions provided by a professional therapist, counselor, and doctors. Children roam the internet and online applications such as Facebook, Snap Chat, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc. These platforms gives them information ideas with the opportunity to respond or obtain a new viewpoint on information that may or may not be suitable for their mental health.

These days you will see children as young as two years old with iPads or Notebooks to utilize some applications. Many have parental controls on them to help with the access that children have; however some parents assume the children applications are appropriate for their kids age without thoroughly viewing or investigating the actual applications which has caused some inappropriate applications to be provided to children.

Now we want to ask you to take a look at the cognitive stage that your child is in and have already gone through, their access to information all around them, rather it’s at home, in the community, sports, online, etc to see where are they gravitating towards for most of the information that they are receiving on a daily basis. Are they online or watching television for an extended amount of time? Are they reading books and spending time doing things that they enjoy such as sports? Are they hanging out with friends most of the time? These are some things you will want to determine to see where your children are getting most of their information from that is going to guide them in a crucial time of brain development and processing.

We would like to encourage parents and guardians to become familiar with three things we believe might help your child in obtaining, maintaining, and being involved in their own self advocacy for mental wellness that they will be able to carry them well into adulthood.

What is your child (ren) learning style?

There are four learning styles that include:

Visual- learn well when aided by images, pictures, and spatial organization of elements

2.

Auditory: Learn well when aided by music, sound, rhyme, rhythm, speaking or listening

Reading/Writing- learn well by reading or writing the material you want to learn

4.

Kinesthetic- learn well when you can move your body, and/or use your hands and sense of through. Writing or drawing

Quality Time- Kids feel the most loved through the sharing of time with people. Interacting without distractions is very important for this language.

Giving Gifts- Kids feel most loved when they are given gifts and shows love by giving gifts to others. It’s important to pay attention to what they want. The littlest gifts means a lot to kids with this love language.

They may have a treasure box or take good care of their gifts.

Acts of Service- Kids feel the most loved when they get the opportunity 34

to help others. They enjoy being given the freedom to help and will sometimes feel unloved if they need help and aren’t given the help they need.

4.

Words of Affirmation- Kids feel most loved when spoken to with kind words of affirmations and encouragements. Writing them notes or making a big deal out of little things is special as long as they are guinne.

5.

Physical Touch- Kids feel the most loved when they get hugs, a pat on the back, or small gestures of touch like wrestling or sitting next to them.

The importance of knowing these 3 aspects of your child(ren) lives will help them mentally, emotionally, developmentally, and physically as they learn and grow knowing where their strong points are so that they can focus on what they do best instead of allowing the information that comes in from the world dictate how, why, and what they can do. The sky is the limit for our budding little seeds and we want to make sure that they can get the most out of their life regardless of their age!

The

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Model Human emotions and behaviours are determined by our belief systems and the way we process events, rather than the actual event itself.

Activating event A situation or person that triggers dysfunctional thinking.

These situations or people don't cause their feelings - their beliefs about these events do. Individuals may or may not have control over the activating event, but can focus their attention on how to manage their reaction to activating events that they have little or no control over.

Belief system

An individual's belief system that they filter everything through.

These can be rational beliefs, (consistent with reality, based on fact and data), or irrational beliefs (not supported by evidence or reality). It is usually irrational beliefs that are the source of an individual's concern.

Consequences The emotional or cognitive consequences of the interaction between the activating event and belief system (A and B).

These are the obvious signs of discomfort, such as anxiety, depression, anger, fear, guilt and so on. Rational beliefs tends to lead to healthy outcomes, while irrational beliefs tend to lead to unhealthy consequences.

Disputation Disputing the irrational beliefs and thought patterns.

An individual has to come to the realisation themselves that their belief system is the cause of their problem, and have to want to change that. Once irrational beliefs are eliminated, these then need to be replaced with a more healthy rational and consistent belief system.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESTRAINING ORDER Divorce is one of those life experiences that is hard to recover from and is usually physically, emotionally, and verbally abusive in many instances. It affects everyone in the family and everyone within the couples circle of friends.

There are so many things that pulls at a person during divorce because the walls of life inside literally crumbles from the inside out.

It’s important that people who are contemplating separation or divorce know the laws and specific things to consider and what to do during the process. California and County laws are important to know if you live in the state. Many people will hire attorneys; however not everyone can afford an attorney. It’s also very difficult to navigate through the system especially during the current Covid-19 changes and from the toll that it is already taking on your life. State and County websites are good sources of information and many have self-help departments and organizations that will help you navigate through some of the required paperwork, timing, etc.

It’s important to report abuse in a relationship or marriage because it will help you protect yourself from you ex and it will help in situations that may become out of your control as you go through separation or divorce.

What is considered abuse in the eyes of the court?

Abuse is when someone intentionally or recklessly cause or attempt to cause bodily injury to you; or sexually assault you; or two place you or another person in reasonable fear of imminent serious bodily injury; or to molest, attack, hit, stalk, threaten, batter, harass, telephone, or contact you; or to disturb your peace; or destroy your personal property. Abuse can be spoken, written, or physical. ( Family Code 6203, 6320)

What is a Domestic Violence Restraining Order?

It is a court order that can help protect people who have been abused or threatened with abuse.

How will a restraining order help me?

The court can order the restrained person to: •

Not contact or go near you, your children, other relatives, or others who live with you.

•

Not have any guns or ammunition

•

Move out of your house

•

Obey child custody and visitation orders

•

Pay child support

•

Pay spousal support

•

Obey orders about property

Who can ask for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order?

•

A person who has been abused, threatened (AND)

•

You have one of the following relationships with that person: married, divorced, separated, registered domestic partner, have a child together, dating, or used too date, live together or used to live together; (OR)

•

You are related within the second degree of affinity or consanguinity. This means: mother, father, child or stepchild or legally adopted child, grandparent, sister, brother, stepparent, or in laws. The in-law must be through a current marriage. (Family Code 6211)

•

You have to regularly reside in the same household.

How soon can you get a restraining order?

According to the laws in place the judge will decide within one business day whether or not to make any temporary orders. Sometimes the judge decides sooner. Please NOTE: During Covid-19 Shutdowns it has taken longer for restraining orders to be processed; however police officers are able to request an Emergency Restraining Order right away that will be in effect until your court date.

Having a lawyer is always a good idea, especially if you have children, but it is not required. You are not entitled to a free court-appointed lawyer.

Ask the court clerk about free and low cost legal services and domestic violence help centers in your county. You can also go to the Family Law Facilitator for help with child support.

How do I ask for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order?

If you have an attorney, let your attorney take care of all of your needs; however if you don’t have an attorney you can do the following: The forms are located on your county website.

How much does its cost to get a Restraining Order?

Action Steps for Helping Someone in Emotional Pain In 2018, suicide claimed the lives of more than 48,000 people in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Suicide affects people of all ages, genders, races, and ethnicities.

Suicide is complicated and tragic, but it can be preventable. Knowing the warning signs for suicide and how to get help can help save lives.

Here are 5 steps you can take to #BeThe1To help someone in emotional pain:

1. ASK: “Are you thinking about killing yourself?” It’s not an easy question but studies show that asking at-risk individuals if they are suicidal does not increase suicides or suicidal thoughts.

2. KEEP THEM SAFE: Reducing a suicidal person’s access to highly lethal items or places is an important part of suicide prevention. While this is not always easy, asking if the at-risk person has a plan and removing or disabling the lethal means can make a difference.

3. BE THERE: Listen carefully and learn what the individual is thinking and feeling. Research suggests acknowledging and talking about suicide may in fact reduce rather than increase suicidal thoughts.

4. HELP THEM CONNECT: Save the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number (1-800-273-TALK) and the Crisis Text Line (741741) in your phone so they’re there if you need them. El suicidio afecta a personas de todas las edades, géneros, razas y etnias.

El suicidio es complicado y trágico, pero puede evitarse. Saber cuáles son las señales de advertencia del suicidio y dónde obtener ayuda puede servir para salvar vidas.

A continuación, planteamos 5 medidas que puede seguir para ayudar a una persona con dolor emocional:

1. PREGUNTE: “¿Estás pensando en suicidarte?” No es una pregunta fácil de hacer, pero los estudios muestran que preguntar a las personas en riesgo si tienen pensamientos o deseos de morir o de matarse no aumenta los suicidios ni los pensamientos suicidas.
