ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH HOUSTON Since 1995, Breakthrough Houston has worked alongside Houston students who demonstrate remarkable promise and have financial need. Students join us in middle school, and we commit to supporting them all the way to college graduation. Across those 10-12 years, we provide academic support, career exploration, one-on-one advising, and a community of peers and mentors. Breakthrough is also where many future educators and education advocates get their start. Each summer, about 100 high school and college students serve as Breakthrough Teaching Fellows, teaching and mentoring our middle schoolers. Many go on to careers in education. Today, more than 850 students are part of the Breakthrough Houston community, on their way to and through college and toward lives of choice and purpose.
