It is hard to believe we are in 2024, where does the time go? Although we live in an unsettled time, we are extremely lucky to live and work in Brantford-Brant. Over the past 158 years, the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant has sought to be the voice of business in our region. By bringing together the business community to focus on improving the environment for commerce and trade, the Chamber is the only organization dedicated to economic prosperity and an improved quality of life throughout the City of Brantford and the County of Brant. The Chamber seeks to provide learning and engagement opportunities to meet the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Recommendation #92 for business, and recognizes the history of the area we work and live in as the traditional territory of the Onkwehon:we, or the Original People, that includes the Neutral, Anishnaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples, the original entrepreneurs and traders in this region. Through our events dedicated to networking and celebration of business excellence, to our media, publications and business profile opportunities, Chamber events and programs help to generate interest and revenue to support Chamber advocacy initiatives with all three levels of government, including both municipalities in the region. The Chamber is strictly nonpartisan, and strives to develop, promote, and highlight strong policies for business.
The time invested in programming advocacy events, writing, analyzing, and communicating policy, and communicating the work of Chamber volunteers across the country, province, and region to improve business is priceless in this era of so many channels of communication. Direct-to-member, targeted communications of issues and solutions to Brantford-Brant businesses, and in the reverse to elected officials, is a critical role of the Chamber.
Your support as a member through attending events, sponsoring events, advertising in the dynamic InTouch magazine delivered to over 2000 businesses in the region, and in this Directory, available in print to over 900 businesses, and with over 300,000 online impressions (and growing!) annually in the full colour PDF edition, is essential to the work of the Chamber. Rick was a life-long champion of business and community development in our region. He served many roles in his family, entrepreneurial, and volunteer lives. He passed away on December 5, 2023 at the age of 79, still active as a Rotarian (49 years), entrepreneur and mentor (TEC Canada), volunteer (Laurier’s Board of Governors, Laurier Launchpad, GVES, Lansdowne, and Stedman Foundation) and member of the Chamber’s Advocacy Committee. Rick was awarded the Chamber’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2013, among many other achievements.
