The Globe’s Freedom From Hunger helps neighbors in need BY K.D. MICHAELS, Staff Writer Imagine being a parent and not having enough food to feed your children. Or being a child who goes to bed hungry because there’s no food in the house. These scenarios are very real and they are happening right here in our community, especially during the summer months when children are out of school and in the winter months when work is scarce. Many in our local area suffer from food insecurity and that’s where we, as a community, can help. The Branson Globe presents Freedom from

Hunger, a community-wide effort to help provide much needed food for members of our own neighborhoods. The Branson Globe challenges each area business to collect nonperishable food items and monetary donations to be given to the two food pantries in the Branson area—Christian Action Ministries and Salvation Army. Both organizations are seeing a higher than ever demand this year while dealing with funding cuts. The Branson Globe also encourages churches and other organizations who do not

come in contact with customers to hold fundraisers with the proceeds going to CAM and the Salvation Army. Freedom from Hunger is set for Independence Day weekend, July 4, 5 and 6. We hope you will join us in helping our neighbors in need. If you need ideas on how to kick off a fundraiser or food drive as part of Freedom from Hunger, please reach out to the Branson Globe and we will share some ideas. Let’s all team up to make Freedom from Hunger a huge success this July 4th weekend.
