A symbol of reflection. Connected by values that bring together locals and new neighbors, the principles of faith, family, and flag which unite Branson are still reflected in our citizens and culture today. From traditions that run deep like the annual Veterans Week celebration or Adoration Parade to new reflections of our commitment to these values in our entertainment offerings, the white of the American flag is reflected in the very core of the Branson community. Many shows, shops, and experiences are built to bring these values to the visitors’ experiences.

SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS

Before 1906, the Ozarks hills were a rough and rugged territory. Full of individuals used to long hours, hard work, and family-like communities, Harold Bell Wright’s classic novel brought a light to the beauty of Branson territory.

Visitors flocked to see the land described, beginning the tourism for Branson.

Today, the incredible story has been faithfully told for 66 years in Thurman Outdoor Theatre, on the same property the original novel was written. Over 90 actors, actresses, livestock, and crew bring the story to life three times a week.

Student-made, custom Straw-blue Berry Jam for America's 250th is available for purchase all year long. On the boarder of campus, Patriots Park is home to five memorials that honor Missourians who served and paid the ultimate price in America’s major wars.

Historic Downtown Branson has held a special place in the hearts of Branson residents and visitors for decades. Home of classic stores where gift shopping is made easy, unique experiences for the perfect memories, and delicious stops for food, Downtown Branson is truly a one-stop destination. In 2025, the Downtown area received new updates to improve the street structure, improve destination signage, and increase parking.

The new improvements maintain the traditional architecture, while opening up the downtown area to more visitors.

POEM & ESSAY WINNERS Explore Branson recognizes and celebrates patriotism all year long. 2026 is extra special and for America's 250th Anniversary we conducted an essay contest for the Branson High School seniors to tell us about what patriotism means to them. The challenge? Only use 250 words! The stakes? $2,500 in scholarship to be presented in the spring of 2026! We invite you to enjoy this piece by the winner.

7-8 GRADE

We also invited 7/8 grade students in Branson to write a poem about patriotism. This poem is featured here in print and the author receives a bounty of Branson items, including passes for fun, adventure, dining, and more. Enjoy!

BRANSON: AMERICA'S MOST PATRIOTIC TOWN

Branson, Missouri is more than just a town. It is a community built on pride, respect, and honor for those who have served our country. Nowhere else are patriotism and appreciation shown so loudly everyday. The flags that line our streets and the yearly traditions that bring us together to form a close community, it proudly shows what it means to love and honor America.

Each year, the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Branson demonstrates why Branson shows so much patriotism. The streets fill with people cheering and waving flags, not for sports teams or celebrities, but for our veterans. The true heroes of our nation. Both young and old come together to honor, salute, and say “thank you” to the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The parade is so much more than just an event, it is a true reflection of the values that define Branson.

That same spirit continues and travels up to Veterans Village in Ballparks of America. There, veterans are welcomed like family. Volunteers serve warm meals, share conversations, and open their hearts to honor those who served and sacrificed. It’s a constant reminder that in Branson, every veteran has a home.

In Branson, patriotism is not just a word, it is a way of life. We celebrate America not only on holidays but every single day. As our nation approaches its 250th birthday, Branson stands as a shining example of what it means to be proud, grateful, and truly patriotic.

BIO | I have lived in Branson since I was born, so almost 18 years. My father moved to the United States in 2002 from Mexico and my mother in 2003 from Brazil. They are my reason as to why I continue to work hard and be grateful to have the opportunity to live in such a patriotic country. I entered this contest to display the loud and proud things Branson does to show off our veterans and to celebrate our nation's 250th birthday. I plan to study nursing after high school, and plan to become a cardiac nurse after college.

BRANSON’S PATRIOTIC THEATER SCENE

With “Family” being one of the city’s most foundational pillars, Branson’s reputation as a musical destination has been carried for decades on the shoulders of long-standing family bands, starting with Branson’s Famous Baldknobbers in 1959 and Presleys’ Country Jubilee in 1967—both still entertaining Branson audiences today. Over time, shows like The Haygoods (1993), The Duttons (1997), and The Petersens (2010) have continued to carry the torch, offering everything from country and gospel to pop and bluegrass.

Because these talented families embrace Branson’s three core values, “Faith, Family, and Flag,” many, along with the majority of Branson’s live shows, have made it a tradition to honor Veterans at the end of each performance, often with a musical number as a heartfelt “thank you for your service.”

SPIRIT OF AMERICA Step into a sea of stars and stripes with Spirit of America—a high-energy, family-friendly musical extravaganza celebrating the heart and soul of America through song and dance. Held at the King’s Castle Theatre on Branson’s vibrant 76 Country Boulevard, the show takes audiences on a journey from sweeping patriotic anthems to chart-topping classics across country, rock, gospel, and pop—highlighting the music that has shaped generations. With dazzling choreography, powerful vocals, and stunning visuals, it’s the kind of performance that inspires cheers, applause, and even a few tears of pride.

HOT RODS & HIGH HEELS Branson’s Hot Rods & High Heels, staged at the Clay Cooper Theatre, is a playful, high-energy romp back to the golden age of the 1950s. With an eight-member cast of singer-dancers and a live six-piece band, this show brings sock-hop nostalgia to life—think poodle skirts, sodashop flair, and classic rock ‘n’ roll tunes from legends like Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis, and more. Clocking in at around two hours (plus intermission), the show even sprinkles in festive Christmas numbers during Ozark Mountain Christmas.

BRANSON SHOWS WITH NOTABLE PATRIOTIC TRIBUTES

A GARTH TRIBUTE – VeteranOwned and Performed Rich Watson, the dynamic star of A Garth Tribute at the Nashville Roadhouse Theater in Branson, is not only a powerhouse performer but also a proud U.S. Army Veteran.

Throughout the year, he offers military discounts, special deals, and occasionally hosts private events to honor fellow service members. His performances go beyond music, creating a space where those who’ve served feel seen, appreciated, and celebrated. After each show, Rich often takes time to meet with Veterans in the audience, making A Garth Tribute more than a concert—it's a heartfelt tribute in every sense of the word.

DOLLY PARTON’S STAMPEDE Dolly Parton’s Stampede, a highenergy dinner show featuring horseback trick riding, live animal acts, musical performances, and a four-course feast, culminates each performance with an uplifting patriotic finale set to Dolly’s original anthem “Color Me America”—a stirring tribute to America’s military.

The arena fills with red, white, and blue imagery as horses and riders unite in a powerful display of national pride.

THE HAYGOODS The Haygoods are Branson’s most dynamic family act, delivering high-energy performances packed with music, special effects, and jaw-dropping talent. With a modern twist on classic hits, stunning choreography, and over 20 instruments played live, every show is a crowdpleasing spectacle. But beyond the lights and sound, The Haygoods proudly honor our nation’s heroes by recognizing Veterans and Active Military at every performance. They invite service members to stand for well-deserved applause and perform a heartfelt patriotic number in their honor.

YAKOV Yakov Smirnoff’s Branson show warmly blends comedic brilliance with deep patriotic pride—each performance concludes on a heartfelt note, as Yakov invites Veterans and Active Military to stand and receive a standing ovation, dedicating moving patriotic reflections and songs in their honor. Born in the Soviet Union and now proudly American, Yakov shares personal stories that underscore the freedoms our service members protect, creating a genuine, emotional salute to their sacrifices.

THE FREEDOM ENCOUNTER THEATER

The Freedom Encounter Theater is a faith-based educational experience with a bold mission: to creatively teach the story of tyranny, faith, and freedom, and inspire this generation to stand for the cause of liberty.

At the heart of the attraction is the powerful Freedom Journey Show—a 120-minute immersive production that blends multimedia, live patriotic and gospel music, historical reenactments, and dramatic presentations featuring key moments and figures from American history. Guests encounter holograms of leaders like George Washington and Patrick Henry, stirring speeches, and moving musical numbers that bring the nation’s founding ideals to life. The show ends in a heartfelt tribute to Veterans and those who have sacrificed to protect freedom, honoring their service with powerful visuals and music.

In addition to the show, Freedom Encounter offers a Freedom Journey Experience, an hourlong, interactive walk through the history and values that shaped America. Guests will begin in the cozy Liberty Theater with an inspiring short film, then move to the Wilderness School where they can sit at wooden desks and learn about the founding documents of America, and finally they will land in the Colonial Church to see historical figures brought to life via hologram technology. Perfect for youth groups,

church groups, homeschoolers, families, and history lovers, this immersive attraction offers an engaging blend of education, storytelling, and patriotism that brings America’s founding ideals and spiritual heritage vividly to life.

The Freedom Encounter Theater is working on all-new theatrical productions as we speak, including A Time for Freedom, which set its stage in 2025. Their theater has also been home to several touring groups, such as Arise Collective Theatre with Pilgrim: The Musical, and Logos Theatre productions, a group of performers that effortlessly blends powerful storytelling with stunning visuals, handcrafted puppetry, and masterful stagecraft.

There’s no shortage of friendly faces in Branson, but few shine brighter than Francie Hattabaugh. Known for her quick wit, welcoming smile, and genuine love for people, Francie has become a local favorite and the unofficial face of Ozarks Hospitality. Around here, treating guests and neighbors with kindness isn’t something we study, it’s simply how life is lived in the Ozarks.

That spirit of friendliness is what keeps visitors coming back again and again. But there’s only one way to truly understand Ozarks Hospitality, and that’s to experience it first-hand. That’s where Francie comes in!

Francie is a long-time Branson enthusiast who has turned her love for the community into a career. With experience working alongside beloved Branson names like Yakov Smirnoff and Sight & Sound Theatres, she has had a frontrow seat to the magic that makes this town special. When she accepted her current role as the part-time Front Desk Manager at the Branson Chamber and CVB, she never imagined she would be stepping directly into the spotlight.

One of her biggest hits came from her visit to Goomba’s New York Bagel Shop, which drew nearly ten thousand views and plenty of comments from fans who couldn’t get enough of her charm.

To date, the weekly series has received over ninety thousand views on Instagram and hundreds of heartwarming comments from fans near and far. Francie’s popularity has even inspired her very own #FranClub, with visitors stopping by the Branson Visitor Center hoping to meet her and snap a photo.

Branson Auto and Farm Museum

Originally opened under the name Branson Auto Museum in May 2009, the word “farm” was later added in 2010 after being purchased by Mr. Maurice Wilder, a successful real estate and farm businessman, after he fell in love with a car there, bought it, and then later purchased the entire museum! The museum was completely rebuilt into a 90,000-square-foot-building, with one half dedicated to classic and antique automotive history and the other half to farming implements and equipment history.

At any given time, the museum features approximately 200 classic and collectible vehicles and approximately 180 farm tractors, implements, and buggies with their inventory changing regularly to add something new to each visit. Come celebrate the automobile and the American farmer during your next trip to Branson—you might just leave with the car of your dreams.

Branson Auto and Farm Museum (Upper Parking Lot) - Fall of 2026 Trans Am Takeover began as a tribute to one of the most iconic American muscle cars ever made—the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Making their return to Branson for a third year, the Trans Am Takeover focuses on honoring the past while cruising into the future with all makes, models, and muscle. Last year, the organizers not only hosted a car show, but organized drag races, a street cruise, live entertainment, and a local celebrity meet-and-greet.

Branson’s Annual Volkswagen Jamboree

Thousand Hills Resort Hotel - May 16, 2026 Branson’s First Annual Volkswagen Jamboree roared onto the scene May 9–10, 2025, at the scenic Thousand Hills Resort Hotel.

Enthusiasts from across the region showcased everything from vintage Beetles and custom buses to modern VW classics, all against a backdrop of live entertainment, delicious resort cuisine, and vendor booths. Kicking off Friday evening with a relaxed mixer at the Wildwood Bar, the festivities continued Saturday with a breakfast magic show, the official showing and judging of the cars, an awards ceremony, and a scenic group cruise. With a modest $25 vehicle fee, the first 75 entries earned a free T-shirt, and winners took home trophies and cash prizes. Thanks to an enthusiastic community response, the event is already gearing up for its second annual run on May 16, 2026.

Jeep Branson 2026

Branson Convention Center – June 10-13, 2026 Gear up for Jeep Branson 2026, returning in June for its third thrilling year in the Ozarks! With 3 pristine lakes to choose from, the hardest part of your next fishing trip might be deciding which fish to set your sights on. In this guide we’ll introduce you to the prize fish of the Ozarks, with all the knowledge you need to become a true bass pro.

Bass is the Ozarks’ premier sports fish; to catch one you’ll need to be quick and ready for a fight. But first, you’ve gotta know where to find them. While you can find bass in any of our lakes, Table Rock and Bull Shoals are going to have the highest concentration of them. Now bass temperament changes with the seasons, and you can use that to your advantage.

During the Spring and Autumn months, Bass tend to be much more aggressive.

In the Spring, male bass typically are guarding their spawning beds. They’re regularly found in the shallows and with the right glasses, you can really lock-in on the bed and use a soft lizard bait to trigger the bass into attacking. As for the Fall, the bass move to the shallow coves,

bulking up for the winter and are more willing to chase down any bait that catches their attention. A bright spinnerbait should show up nicely on their radar.

Smallmouth Bass typically fish along on the bottom while Spotted Bass are commonly found suspended over deepwater following schools of baitfish.

bass and their prey’s lethargic nature. To do this, use a lower gear ratio (try a 5.1:1 to 5.4:1). The slower reel-in will help your bait fit in perfectly.

On the other end of the spectrum, the bass will ditch the shallows once the summer heat cranks up. That means you’ll want to target the drop-offs along the bluffs. Jigs and drop-shot rigs can be effective in the 10-25 foot range or deeper. During the summer, Large and

But there’s more to fishing here than just Bass, in recent years Lake Taneycomo has become a nationally recognized premier destination for trout fishing! Here, you can find waters teeming with Rainbow and Brown Trout. But what’s truly unique about Taneycomo is the fact that it’s a lake that acts more like a river. This is because the lake is fed by the cold waters released from the bottom of Table Rock Dam. Creating a fast-moving and oxygenrich body of water that’s perfect for supporting trout!

Fishing on Taneycomo is a year-round adventure, with many dedicated anglers finding success across every season, but starting in March, the catch rate starts to really pick up. Now the predominant species in the lake is Rainbow Trout, and their spawning season begins in early Spring. Meaning you need to watch for any activity in the shallows. During this time, trout tend to act as opportunistic feeders, so try using small natural-colored lures or flies to mimic insects and scuds.

As the weather warms up into summer, the trout remains active thanks to the consistently cold water coming from the dam with temperatures often staying in the mid-40s, even in July. During these warmer months, boat fishing becomes more popular due to higher water levels and increased flow. And set your alarms because fishing in the early morning and evening tends to produce the best results, especially when the water is moving.

Now fall is arguably the best time to fly fish on Taneycomo! The water clarity

greatly improves, and the cooler air temperatures mean trout are feeding heavily in preparation for winter. This is also when the lake’s Brown Trout begin their own spawning runs. If you’re targeting a trophy catch, this is your season. Try using jerkbaits, and minnowimitating patterns to tempt the bigger browns lurking in deeper pools. When it comes to fly fishing it’s about wearing down the fish so be ready for a fight.

Whether you're wading near the dam, casting from a boat, or fishing from the banks near Branson Landing, Lake Taneycomo is the kind of place where both casual anglers and serious fly-fishers can feel right at home. It's peaceful, productive, and just one cast away from your next big story.

The Petersens were one of many to answer that call, and they answered in a big way. Here’s a little more about the process.
