Ideja obilježavanja Dana planeta Zemlje predstavljena je 1969. godine, a službeno se obilježava od 1992. godine. 2009. godine skupština UN proglasila je 22. travnja međunarodnim Danom planeta Zemlje. Obilježimo zajedno Dan planeta Zemlja kroz javni događaj "Obnovimo našu zemlju". BIODIVERSITY •
Biodiversity is the most precious resource of our life. Therefore, it is obligatory to preserve it because it is essential to have a natural balance on the earth. Nature provides us food, so preserving biodiversity is necessary for healthy eating. If we destroy biodiversity, we destroy the future of our food but also of medicine because many of the pharmaceutical products we consume contain plants.
•
We do not have the right to destroy biodiversity. But, unfortunately, we threaten it with deforestation, a real disaster for the ecosystem, because it endangers many species of plants and animals by the destruction of habitats, by pollution that disrupts the ecosystem, by creating global warming which is the cause of global climate change (the acidification of the oceans, the displacement of animal species, the expansion of harmful species) and, ultimately, the overexploitation of natural resources. Most of the pollution comes from transports, but also from household waste. For this it is very important to walk often and to collect waste selectively.
•
Nowadays, the protection of the environment has become a major topic at the global level. We
know that the environment is also the source of the air we breathe. This is why we must understand that protecting the environment means protecting our source of food, drinking water and fresh air. Air is absolutely essential for survival. We cannot survive without air, which provides us the oxygen we need for life. We must therefore be careful and not to pollute our atmosphere. •
Protecting the environment means reserving biodiversity. Plants, animals, clean water, fresh air
are essential things for our life. •
Briefly, to secure our future, it is essential to protect the environment and, at the same time, to
realize that, because of people, the earth has suffered enough. •
In conclusion, we must preserve biodiversity because it is essential for our life.
HOW CAN WE DO IT? •

Recycling protects natural resources and it reduces environmental damage caused by mining, logging, and the processing of raw materials. Recycling saves energy because processing recyclable materials generally consumes less energy than the collection, transportation, and processing of raw materials does.

The Today for Tomorrow project has two components: Today for Tomorrow on the Beach and Today for Tomorrow in School and is one of the measures adopted by the Coca-Cola company to fulfill the commitment A world without waste, assumed globally.Today for The project took had two components: the educational one on the importance of selective collection and waste recycling, which took the form of an information and awareness campaign and the component of selective collection in schools, provided with the support of GreenPoint Management . The local partner of the project in Constanța County is the NGO Mare Nostrum.Tomorrow in Schools.
The Earth day in the past and today •
Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.
•
As in 1970, Earth Day 2010 came at a time of great challenge for the environmental community to combat the cynicism of climate change deniers, well-funded oil lobbyists, reticent politicians, a disinterested public, and a divided environmental community with the collective power of global environmental activism.
•
Today, Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behavior and create global, national and local policy changes.
•
Volunteers from our big NGO held information workshops on selective waste collection. The collection rules were explained and I was impressed by how many good things I can do for the environment. My colleagues and I set out to help and each day we selectively collected paper, plastic and aluminum cans.
ACTIVITIES The types of waste that were collected and the collection rules were displayed in a visible place. The students collected cardboard, paper, cans, plastic daily from October 2017 - February 2020. An activity was proposed to promote the project for the other students. We used the Living Exhibition, as a non-formal method of education, in which high school students made panels, banners, mascots, through which they promoted the project to primary school students. and invited them to be even more involved. Volunteers were present at these workshops and project coordinators and worked in the workshops. The green corner of the school was made, where the exhibition with the students' products was arranged.

Because of the situation caused by the pandemic, our project was abruptly interrupted and we thought it would have no purpose. But it was not so. Online activities were organized under the name of online mini-workshops with students, in which they discussed with volunteers, discussed topics related to selective collection and the principles of "zero waste". They worked together and discovered new online tools that allowed students to get creative and did great projects, culminating in e-Books. The workshops lasted 30-40 minutes and took place weekly from May to July. There were activities dedicated to each school in which our personal children also participated and they felt very good.
Roules • Promoting the principles of environmental education and natural health consists in developing environmental responsibility, promoting desire and the ability to approach a lifestyle compatible with the appropriate and responsible use of resources, developing motivation and participation skills to improve the environment, eco development ethics.

1. Recycle - Many wastes - such as aluminum cans, bottles, paper, cardboard, plastic can be recycled and transformed into new products or the same products. The manufacture of recycled waste products requires less energy and fewer resources than would be required to manufacture a new product

.BONUS INFO: PET can be recycled an average of 4-5 times and turned into packaging that in turn can be used for many years to come. PET can also be used in the textile industry. Thus, from 10-15 recycled PETs you can make 1 T-shirt, and from 50 PETs you can make 1 sweater.
Top 3 Tips to Become a World Changer! 2. REDUCE - Buy only what you need and use everything you buy. Even if they are interesting, funny and glittery packaging costs more and does not add value to the product you buy. 3. REFUSE bags from stores- When you buy only a few products, do not buy a bag. You can replace it with a bag made of recyclable materials.
