SECTION A:BIMPROJECT EXECUTION PLAN OVERVIEW
A Building Information Model (BIM) is “a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility.” To successfully implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) on a project, the projectteamhasdevelopedthisdetailedBIMProjectExecutionPlan. TheBIM Project Execution Plan defines uses for BIM on the project (e.g. design authoring, cost estimating, and design coordination), along with a detailed design of the process for executing BIMthroughouttheprojectlifecycle.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the foundation of digital transformation in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry This group has evaluated a combination of as-built, demolition, and proposal drawings in order to determine the most accuratesetofdrawingspossibleforthissite.
It isrecommendedthatBIMbeintroducedtoaprojectinthebeginningofthedesignphasewhen drawings are first introduced. This provides the opportunity to verify dimensions, details, etc. and to determine whether or not there are clashes between systems. Any issues found in this phase have the opportunity to be corrected inthedrawingswithaminimalcosttotheownerdue tothefactthattheprojecthasnotmadeitonsiteyet.
This specific project experiences drawbacks due to drawings from different years, different sets from design phases and as-built sets, and even several sets of drawings included for buildings that no longer exist on the site. Due to the age of these drawings, many of them were not well organized or labeled. Assumptions were made pertaining some dimensions, details, materiality, etc.duetothesedrawingdetails.
