The Cinemark Century movie theater in Mountain View is closing down, leaving only three theaters on the Mid-Peninsula that show new movies. Developer Joseph Syufy has applied to build 1,914 apartments, a gym and stores on the 16-acre property at 1500 N. Shoreline Blvd, according to the city. The last day for movies is Sept. 24, a theater employee confirmed yesterday. The theater is one of two in Mountain View, along with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at 2585 California St. That theater closed from June to December 2024 to transition to new ownership. The next closest theaters are Palo Alto’s Landmark Aquarius Theater at 430 Emerson St. and another Cinemark in Redwood City at 825 Middlefield Road. Palo Alto [See THEATER, page 22]
