Fire station site burglarized Burglars broke into the construction site where Palo Alto’s Fire Station 4 on Middlefield Road is being rebuilt, police said. The burglars got into the construction site at 3600 Middlefield Road on Aug. 21 through a locked fence and stole $3,100 in construction tools and materials, according to Lt. Joel Hornung. Officials broke ground on the new station on Jan. 8, which is expected to cost the city $18.2 million and look like an Eichlerstyle home. The new station will include five bedrooms for fighters, a kitchen, a training room, a captain’s office, a gym and public bathrooms. There would be space for two active firetrucks and one in a reserve bay.
