OCTOBER 2026
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT TURNING MEMBER VOICES INTO ACTION Members of the Chamber, It has been an energizing start to the Chamber season, and much of that energy has come from you, our members. The priorities I shared in June are already taking shape, and I want to bring you up to speed on where things stand. Brandon votes on October 28, and your Chamber has been busy. We have been meeting with mayoral and council candidates to better understand their platforms and, just as importantly, make sure they understand the needs of our business community. Our members are raising real concerns: infrastructure that keeps pace with growth, predictable multi-year capital planning, retail theft and property crime, and a property tax framework businesses can plan around. On October 6, in partnership with Brandon Downtown BIZ, we brought Ward 2 business and property owners together with all four candidates. More than 40 people joined us for that conversation. Many business owners invest in their community and spend their working days there, even if they don't live in the ward. They have a real stake in its future, and their voices deserve to be heard. We'll continue that work with our mayoral debate on October 21, and I encourage members to attend and hear directly from the candidates. That same approach of bringing people into the room rather than speaking for them guides much of our work. We have started holding industry-specific roundtables, sitting down with businesses from the same sector to talk honestly about what they are facing. What comes out of those conversations does not sit in a file. It helps shape the advocacy positions we take to government and the work we plan for the year ahead. More roundtables are coming, and if you have an issue you want raised, you don't need to wait for an invitation. We're also using what we hear from members to shape our educational programming.
In June, I said artificial intelligence was a present-day reality, not a future conversation. Since then, we've held the first workshop in a four-part series designed to make AI less intimidating, with each session building on the last. Three more are on the way, along with workshops and seminars on other topics members have been asking about. Our committees are getting underway as well. Chairs and members are working toward their goals for the year, and I look forward to what they will accomplish. Finally, nominations for our Business Achievement Awards are now open. If you know a business or individual deserving of recognition, I encourage you to put their name forward. Celebrating our own is one of the best things we do. As always, the door is open. If you want to connect with the Chamber or share an issue that matters to you, please reach out.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
Ward 2 Business Forum
On October 6, the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Brandon Downtown BIZ, hosted a Ward 2 Business Forum at Section 6 Brewing. It was a full house, with just over 40 business and property owners joining us to hear directly from all four Ward 2 candidates on issues affecting businesses in the area. Thank you to everyone who joined us and submitted questions, to Brandon Downtown BIZ for partnering with us, and to Laryssa and Sid at Section 6 Brewing for hosting us. Creating opportunities like this for our business community to connect directly with those seeking elected office is an important part of how the Chamber helps ensure the business voice is heard.
