Landon Alexander Hays was born March 4, 1987. The son of Mike and Belinda Hays and brother to Adrienne Hays, Landon was unexpectedly taken from us December 28, 2001, in a tragic motorcycle accident. Although he was only here for a brief time, he touched the hearts of many people and blessed their lives.

Landon’s love for horses, cattle and the ranch life was the inspiration behind the formation of Hays Brothers. His enthusiasm was contagious and served as a catalyst to spur Dad and Uncle Clark along.

Everyone was excited as construction of the Hays Brothers multi-purpose building began. However, no one was as excited as Landon. Uncle Clark had taught him to rope, and Landon was looking forward to refining his roping skills in the new indoor arena. Virtually all weekends and holidays away from school you could find Landon on the ranch shadowing Uncle Clark and absorbing all the knowledge of ranch and cattle life he could. Regardless of the task laid out for him, he gave it his all.

Though Landon is not physically with us, we shall always have our precious memories of his laughter and everpresent smile. We shall not forget the many hours he spent as a young man helping start and develop Hays Brothers Angus Ranch.

To our Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that Landon was a very special gift and blessing from You, and we thank You. To our very special Landon, we love and miss you so much, and look forward to seeing you again in a greater arena, Heaven.

The Landon Hays Memorial Scholarship Fund awards two $2,500 scholarships each year to two deserving young people from the great state of Louisiana. We are proud to have helped, to date, 28 young men and women start their education at the college or University of their choice. The proceeds from the sale of this featured lot helps fund these deserving scholarships.

Dear Friends and Neighbors, It’s my pleasure to welcome each of you to the 16th Annual Landon Hays Memorial Angus Sale. As usual, ribeyes will be served at 11:00a.m. with the auction following promptly at 12:30 p.m.

What a great set of cattle you will get to appraise this year. The bulls are predominantly two plus years of age, and a testament to the Express Ranch Genetics. These boys are “BIG and BAD”.

Next is a popping good set of spring calving commercial Angus heifers. There’s about 35 head of these that were A.I.’d to LBW Angus bulls and cleaned up with HB bulls. Most should be paired by sale day. These are pretty fancy, and they will fit in anywhere you need them to go.

The spring calving Angus/Brangus/BWF heifers were also A.I.’d to LBW Angus bulls and cleaned up with HB bulls. There’s about 200 of these heifers and most should be paired by sale day.

Lastly will be 175 head of fall calving heifers. They will also have been A.I.’d to LBW Angus bulls and cleaned up with HB bulls.

Just like the group above, they will be Angus/Brangus/ BWF type heifers.

All these cattle qualify for the HB buyback program, and if you’re going to be in the cow business, you might as well have some good ones.
