Landon Alexander Hays was born March 4, 1987. The son of Mike and Belinda Hays and brother to Adrienne Hays, Landon was unexpectedly taken from us December 28, 2001, in a tragic motorcycle accident. Although he was only here for a brief time, he touched the hearts of many people and blessed their lives.

Landon’s love for horses, cattle and the ranch life was the inspiration behind the formation of Hays Brothers. His enthusiasm was contagious and served as a catalyst to spur Dad and Uncle Clark along.

Everyone was excited as construction of the Hays Brothers multi-purpose building began. However, no one was as excited as Landon. Uncle Clark had taught him to rope, and Landon was looking forward to refining his roping skills in the new indoor arena. Virtually all weekends and holidays away from school you could find Landon on the ranch shadowing Uncle Clark and absorbing all the knowledge of ranch and cattle life he could. Regardless of the task laid out for him, he gave it his all.

Though Landon is not physically with us, we shall always have our precious memories of his laughter and everpresent smile. We shall not forget the many hours he spent as a young man helping start and develop Hays Brothers Angus Ranch.

To our Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that Landon was a very special gift and blessing from You, and we thank You. To our very special Landon, we love and miss you so much, and look forward to seeing you again in a greater arena, Heaven.

The Landon Hays Memorial Scholarship Fund awards two $2,500 scholarships each year to two deserving young people from the great state of Louisiana. We are proud to have helped, to date, 22 young men and women start their education at the college or University of their choice. The proceeds from the sale of this featured lot helps fund these deserving scholarships.

Dear Producers, We wish to welcome each of you to the ranch and the 13th annual Landon Hays Memorial Angus Sale. We hope your stay with us is and enjoyable one and we feel confident you will see multiple classes of cattle that can have a positive impact on your respective operations.

HAYS BROTHERS

This years Angus herd sires are big and burly. Most of them are two year olds and are ready to go to work. Of the registered bulls offered, only ten head DID NOT come from our ET Program. Twenty-four of these are sired by the extremely popular Connealy Consensus 7229 and nineteen of those are Consensus x 1407 daughters.

The registered females consist of fall and spring pairs, spring breds, and fall 2014 breds.

We will start the commercial offering with a set of two and three year old black-white faced/black motley faced pairs and heavy breds followed by approximately 1200 head of fall calving heifers. These heifers were synchronized and A.I.’d to four full brothers by Consensus and out of a 1407 dam and cleaned up with Hays Brothers Bulls. All the heifers were A.I.’d the same week so you should have a tight calving season. There will be a unique offering of heifers that have been pasture exposed to a ¾ Brahman bull thus producing a 1st generation Brangus calf. Finally, we will end with approximately 300 head of black-white faced/black motley faced open heifers. These heifers should weigh 750-800 pounds and be ready to breed to the bull of your choice.
