Russell was born in LaPlata, MD to Jack and Bessie Lee to a family of 7 boys and 3 girls. He was the first in his family to attend college. He joined the DC Public School System in 1957. He retired in 1989. After retirement, he taught in several parochial schools. In addition, he worked as a job developer in Prince George’s County and was successful in placing 1500 students in summer jobs.
He is survived by his brothers Earl and Donald and sister Barbara.
Priscilla Uhmar Savoy

Priscilla was the daughter of the late Clara Margaret Yates and James Bernard Savoy, Jr., and sister to the later Lillian Yates -Watson. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Gloria and one brother Bernard. While living in Baltimore, she was employed by Baltimore Gas and Electric for 29 years. She was a life member of Morgan State University Alumni Chapter. She was a member of American Legion Randolph Furey Unit #170 Ladies Auxiliary.

Agnes (Aggie) Varie was educated in the public schools of Charles County, graduating from Bel Alton High School in 1963. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morgan State University in 1967 and later received a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University. Varie taught at T.C. Martin Elementary School in Bryantown, MD, St. Thomas More Elementary School in Washington, DC and Milton Somers Middle School in LaPlata, MD from where she retired in 2000. Varie had a passion for teaching and loved every minute she spent in the classroom. Aggie was married to Charles Rodney Taylor on April 23, 1969 and they had on son Darryl. Her husband and son where the center of her world. Her radiant smile and beautiful personality will be remembered by many. She had a warn and quiet spirit and she truly loved her family and friends.
Vernard Roscoe Harden

Vernard Roscoe Harden, age 71 of Dameron, MD died August 8, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leondardtown, MD. Vernard was born on September 12, 1940 in Staunton, Va.
Vernard is a 1961 graduate of Morgan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. In August 1963, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline A. Cottom in Sewickly, Pennsylvania. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on August 3, 2012.
Veranrd was also a very proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He was initiated into the fraternity at Morgan State University in 1959. In July 2009, he became a charter member of the LeondardtownPrince Frederick Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Mary Priscilla Moore

Mary Priscilla Moore, also affectionately called Priscialla or “Pris” by her family and friends, was born the tenth of eleven children on May 4, 1947 in Brandywine, Maryland to the late Sydney, Sr. and Dorniece Moore. On Monday April 30, 2012, Priscilla was called home to spend eternity with the Lord.
Priscilla was educated in the Prince George’s County school system. After graduating from Frederick Douglass Senior High School, she received a B.A. in Music, with a minor in Elementary Education from Morgan State University in 1970. She later obtained a Master’s of Education. She was an active, life member of Morgan State University Alumni Chapter . She was also a member of the Southern Maryland Alumni Chapter.
Charles Nathanael Simpson

Charles Simpson was nurtured and raised in St. Mary’s County, MD where he attended the public schools and graduated with honors from George Washington Carver High School. Charles went on to attend Morgan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965 and later attended Southeastern University in Boston, MA where he earned a Master of Arts Degree. He not only achieved these degrees, but did so with honor and recognition, excelling in every subject. After these accomplishments, Charles sat for and passed the examination to receive accreditation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
In 1979 Charles married Jackie and they raised three sons, Bruce, Michael and mark with love, affection and guidance instilling in them a strong sense of right an wrong and a love for god, family and church.
Barbara Brooks-Williams

Barbara Brooks “Ya Ya” Williams, 73 of Waldorf died March 21, 2009, at the Tapp family home, Mechanicsville, Va. She was retired and a member of Covenant Point United Methodist Church. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1973 from Temple University and a master’s of education in 1977 from Antioch College.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Brooks and the late Hazel Allen Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Antoinette Shirley Colbert.
She is survived by her son, Darryl S. Williams and his wife, Dorothy Williams; daughter Lisa R. Wright and her husband, Gregory T. Wright Sr., brothers Robert Brooks and Hosea Brooks; sister, Hazel Dollision, grandchildren, Morgan Johnson, Greg Wright Jr., Justis Wright, Justin Skinner and Janea Jackson; and three great-grandchildren.
