For over 130 years, the Brampton Board of Trade (BBOT) has been the “go to” organization for Brampton businesses of all sectors to convene, collaborate and create solutions to boost regional economic prosperity.

We provide solutions to the toughest problems businesses face every day including overcoming barriers to growth, attracting and retaining talent and making the right connections. Membership ranges from multi-national corporations to small startups and individual entrepreneurs. The BBOT represents a diverse range of businesses from across Peel Region.

Committed Over 2400 voting members renew their ownership stake each year with many of Brampton’s biggest and most influential companies being among them.

Impactful The BBOT dedicates a significant amount of manpower and time to its municipal, regional, provincial and federal advocacy efforts. Our hundreds of volunteers meet monthly and donate thousands of hours to assist us in creating insightful policies and recommendations to stimulate our economy.

Representative The BBOT is a diverse and inclusive organization. Our members are diverse in culture, race, gender, political ideology and their businesses are diverse in size, sector, ownership model and more.

Engaged More than 3500 registrants attend over 50 events, workshops and meetings held by the BBOT.

Each year, the Brampton Board of Trade publishes this business directory to feature and showcase the businesses that have invested in this organization and our community. The pages that follow are a listing of successful businesses that truly care about the success of Brampton and our regional economy.

As the 2020 Chair, it’s my pleasure to work on behalf of all businesses to help Brampton be its very best.

While I think it’s safe to say that 2020 hasn’t turned out like anyone expected, there are a few things that remain the same. For over 130 years, the Brampton Board of Trade has worked for all businesses to help Brampton grow and prosper. The staff and volunteers at the board continue to advocate for business, provide insights and opportunities for connection that make our community stronger.

Over the next few months, you’ll notice increased opportunities for engagement with other businesses, a focus on supporting local trade and a stronger advocacy effort on local issues that most impact our community. All of this will help Brampton – and your business – to emerge from the pandemic constraints stronger than ever.

Brampton looks differently now than it did even a year ago, and we are building on the good work that has been done over the years by those passionate about our community. In 2020 and beyond, we are continuing to build momentum. Over the past five years, your board of directors have focused on collaboration, engagement, accountability and courage. The next step is to continue to build upon that through continuing that forward momentum.

MAYOR’S MESSAGE Patrick Brown Dear Friends, On behalf of the Members of Brampton City Council, I am pleased to extend best wishes to the Members of The Brampton Board of Trade. I appreciate your advocacy efforts to improve the quality of life in Brampton. I want to thank the volunteers who serve on your Board of Directors and committees. Your dedication to our business community is appreciated.

The Member Directory is a good source of information and it is important to support your fellow members. Thank you to all the businesses for advertising in this directory.

In May, Brampton Council approved the Economic Recovery Strategy as a framework for the City to move forward with restarting the local economy.

The Mayor’s COVID-19 Economic Support Task Force guided the development of the City’s Economic Recovery Strategy, which will be achieved by implementing actions under each of the four cornerstones: Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship, Investment, Infrastructure, and Arts, Culture & Tourism. Other initiatives recently launched to support Brampton’s economic recovery include the City’s Support Local campaign and digital ShopHERE program.

The City also recently launched InvestBrampton.ca, a new website which provides a centralized online source for local businesses, entrepreneurs and potential foreign investors to access the information and resources they need to locate or grow their business in Brampton. As we continue our work on Brampton’s economic recovery, retaining and expanding our current businesses, and bringing new investment into our City will be key focuses

for us. This new website is one of the ways we’ll help support our existing businesses and highlight the many benefits Brampton offers as an ideal investment location!

To bring more jobs and investment into Brampton, we are working to show regional and global investors why the city is such a great place to do business.

As Canada’s second fastest growing city, Brampton is a ready source of talent that can support every key industry. Our central location within the Toronto-Waterloo Super Innovation Corridor and our connectivity provide companies quick and easy access to international markets.

Our competitive advantages will drive Brampton’s foreign direct investment efforts as it focusses on key sectors: advanced manufacturing, health and life sciences, innovation and technology, and logistics. We are also prioritizing innovation and entrepreneurship.

We have opened the city’s new incubator and co-working space that is offering a wide range of solutions and support services to the local entrepreneur community. I encourage you to stop by 41 George Street as well as the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst and the RIC Centre in Downtown Brampton.

COMMITTEES

COMMITTEES Policy & Government Relations With the 2017–2020 Strategic Plan as their lead, this committee focuses their attention on the policies and issues impacting Brampton business. This committee is instrumental in conveying to elected officials the important issues that Brampton businesses face, asking the pertinent questions that concern our members, and most especially, calling for actionable platforms that are Brampton-centric.

Connectwork With a focus on personal and professional development, Connectwork meets monthly to provide the opportunity to build relationships for Brampton’s businesswomen. Expert speakers are invited to provide insight on a variety of topics relevant to building your network and developing important skills. The committee is focused on recruiting guest speakers, members and providing opportunities for connection.

International Trade A significant percentage of Brampton’s businesses rely on positive international relations in terms of exporting and importing, attracting talent, and driving innovation. This committee is a resource of approximately 30 businesses that meet monthly to support one another in their export needs, learn more about international markets, and attract potential businesses to Brampton. The committee is also focused on helping identify important issues facing businesses today, while advising on international policies.

Finance This committee is entrusted with looking at the strategic direction of the Board from a financial perspective.

While overseeing the Board’s financial activities, including budget, compliance, auditing, and the investment portfolio, this group of financial experts is charged with ensuring healthy operational results and excellent fiscal management. An extension of the Board of Directors, this committee can dig deeper into specific areas in order to provide insights and ideas for future strategic decision-making as well as make recommendations on the current budget and how it connects to the 5-year plan.

REGIONAL Supercluster The BBOT played a significant role in the supercluster bid and our proposal was deemed as the strongest on developing capacity among local manufacturers.

Inter-Regional Connection Drive for favourable decisions to support TWO WAY ALL DAY GO Transit service between Brampton, Toronto, and Kitchener-Waterloo.

Innovation Corridor Collaboration in Canada’s Innovation Corridor spanning from the GTA to Waterloo Region, an economic powerhouse of more than $345 billion.
