of the Region Luncheon—an essential gathering of nt officials, and community stakeholders from across o once again unite the Brampton Board of Trade, the Mississauga Board of Trade, and the Caledon Chamber of Commerce for this signature event focused on insights, collaboration, and forward thinking as we map our collective future.

As economic landscapes shift both globally and domestically, it’s more important than ever for business and community leaders to come together with a shared purpose. From evolving trade conditions with the United States to the need for interprovincial cooperation, to fostering the sectors that will drive the economy of tomorrow, today’s discussions reflect a critical moment for reflection and bold decision-making.

Peel Region stands at a unique intersection of opportunity. As home to the Pearson Economic Zone, bringing together a deep pool of motivated talent alongside key industries driving innovation - whether in logistics, education, life sciences, food processing, manufacturing, or technology - this region has what it takes to set the pace for Canada’s next chapter of growth.

This luncheon isn’t just about updates—it’s about momentum. It’s a chance to challenge assumptions, exchange ideas, and build strategies that move our region forward. So let’s dig into the conversations ahead, meet new collaborators, and keep building a stronger, more resilient Peel for today and tomorrow.

e is once again proud to join the Brampton Board of Trade ommerce at today’s 2025 State of the Region. This annual gn on shared priorities, exchange ideas, and shape the future of our interconnected communities.

In recent months, our nation has been challenged on several fronts. Ongoing uncertainty surrounding our economic relationship with the United States—our largest trading partner has forced political and business leaders, labour groups, academia, and everyday Canadians to re-evaluate our collective risk tolerance. The spectre of tariff-based trade policies poses an existential threat to our long-term prosperity and quality of life across the Region of Peel.

At the same time, this moment of challenge presents an opportunity. It underscores the urgent need to dismantle long-standing internal trade barriers here at home barriers that continue to frustrate business growth across provincial lines. It also reinforces the imperative to diversify Canada’s trade portfolio by expanding our presence in non-U.S. export markets. These outcomes are essential if we are to safeguard employment, foster innovation, and ensure sustainable growth for future generations.

Fortunately, the Region of Peel is uniquely positioned to lead. From the Pearson Economic Zone an economic engine employing over 500,000 people and generating more than $70 billion in GDP annually to our globally connected talent base and thriving sectors in manufacturing, life sciences, logistics, and information technology, we have the tools to succeed. With strategic public policy and a bold vision, we can convert our regional strengths into a lasting global advantage.

Let’s use today’s dialogue as a springboard for meaningful action. Let’s focus not only on the art of the deal, but on the art of the possible. Engage with your local chamber or board of trade. Be part of a collective voice that’s working to turn challenges into opportunities and find the optimism and momentum that can often feel elusive in today’s complex world.
