The Brampton Brain Game invites you to read, play and explore this summer. Participate online or pick up a Brampton Brain Game Activity Sheet from any Brampton Library branch to participate from home. Join offline and online STEM programs and enjoy challenges that encourage children to continue to learn over the summer.

Register by July 18, 2021 to enter into the Early Bird Prize Draw.

Adult Summer Reading Club

Join our online club and earn points for prizes by completing challenges, reading, crafting, joining our virtual programs, and exploring your community.

From the CEO Brampton Library invites you to participate in our summer clubs to keep reading, learning and connecting from the comfort of your home. Anyone can sign up for one of our summer clubs, log their books online, participate in virtual get-togethers and activities, and even come to a Library branch to “take and make” a craft!

Research tells us that reading out loud to infants and preschool children is one of the most important predictors of school success. Children who are read to have thousands more words in their vocabulary, know how stories are structured, and appreciate the joy of reading.

Research also tells us that children who read independently for pleasure do better in school, and that adults who read show more empathy for other people.

Spend your summer with us, and enjoy reading fun for the whole family. Although our branches remain closed due to the pandemic at the time of writing, remember that we are eager to serve you with Curbside Pickup, and are happy to put together a custom Book Bundle, if you tell us what you’re interested in. As the pandemic recedes and vaccinations increase, we are confident that we will be back open for you to browse our shelves and reconnect with us in person as soon as possible. Until then, we are here (virtually) to serve you!

All sea turtle species are at risk of global extinction. Have lunch with our turt-ally terrific Animal Ambassador Spot to learn about sea turtles, what is happening to them in the ocean, and what you can do to help, in partnership with Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada.

The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology presents: We Dig Dinos!

T. rex, raptors, and Triceratops! Learn about the dinosaur superstars during this live webcast with the Royal Tyrrell Museum. Located in the Alberta badlands, we’ll virtually venture into the field to see how fossils are discovered and excavated.

Peel STEM & Buds Grades 4-8

Students in grades 4 - 8 are welcome to join university and high school student mentors from Peel STEM & buds, a for-youth, by-youth non-profit organization, for this incredible learning opportunity. Over the course of 4 online classes, participants will be empowered to bridge STEM and storytelling concepts and explore project creation.

Write It Workshop!

Grades 4-8

This program focuses on improving the writing skills of children in Grades 4-8, through fun and interactive activities. Participants will be encouraged to find their voice and gain confidence in their writing choices. This workshop is offered in three parts, however sessions can be attended individually. Register for a self-directed newcomer tour to explore various City of Brampton attractions and learn more about popular points of interest in our City. Please register to collect a tour kit at the branch of your choice. This program runs for the entire month of August, 2021.

Then & Now Photo Challenge Adult Summer Reading Club participants are invited to take part in this program, held in partnership with the Brampton Historical Society.

Each week, you’ll be challenged to take an updated photo of a historical Brampton location, based on the picture we send you. Each photo that you submit earns an extra ballot into the bi-weekly prize draw for a chance to win a $25 gift card. The best photo of the week will earn an extra ballot into the Top Grand Prize Draw for a chance to win a $250 Downtown Brampton BIA gift card! Know Before You Go: Your First Frontcountry Camping Trip!

July 13 2-3 pm Discover the basics of frontcountry camping!

Together, we will explore how to safely try camping for the first time. We will cover topics such as necessary equipment, cooking in the outdoors, wildlife considerations, and how to enjoy a safe campfire (with marshmallows, of course).

Animal Aware: How to Camp with Wildlife Nearby

July 20 2-3 pm Explore how to share our natural spaces with animals. We will help you understand how to be smart around bears, bugs, coyotes, snakes, and even turtles! We aim to help protect you from harm while allowing these animals to thrive in their homes for generations to come.

Camping Safety: How to Protect Yourself and the Environment

July 27 2-3 pm Learn the tips and tricks of staying safe and being respectful in the outdoors. Whether you are camping for a week, or hiking for a day, we will recommend some important safety considerations and discuss how to enjoy the outdoors, while respecting the ecological integrity of our natural spaces.
