“The Curse of Bridge Hollow” (2022)

Grab your favorite wooly sweater, sip on some hot apple cider and get into the spooky spirit of the season with the new family adventure comedy “The Curse of Bridge Hollow,” premiering Friday, Oct. 14, on Netflix. After making a big move from Brooklyn, New York, to the small, sleepy town of Bridge Hollow, teenage Sydney (Priah Ferguson, “Stranger Things”) just wants to make friends and to blend in at her new school. But when Sydney accidentally releases an ancient spirit that causes all of the town’s Halloween decorations to come to life and wreak havoc on the residents, she’s forced to team up with her logical, Halloween-hating dad (Marlon Wayans, “White Chicks,” 2004) to save the day. Directed by Jeff Wadlow (“Are You Afraid of the Dark?”), “The Curse of Bridge Hollow” features a screenplay by Todd Berger (“The Happytime Murders,” 2018) and Robert Rugan (“Alice’s Misadventures in Wonderland,” 2004). The film’s cast is rounded out by Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” 2002), Rob Riggle (“21 Jump Street,” 2012), Holly J. Barrett (“Life in Pieces”), Kelly Rowland (“American Soul,” 2019), Doug Dawson (“Z Nation”), Abi Monterey (“Doom Patrol”), Helen Slayton-Hughes (“Parks and Recreation”), Lauren Lapkus (“Good Girls”) and Myles Perez (“Believe,” 2014).

“Spirit Rangers” - Season 1

Explore the beauty of North America and all the land has to offer with the new computer-animated preschool series “Spirit Rangers,” premiering Monday, Oct. 10, on Netflix. Inspired by stories from Indigenous tribes and the incredible, natural landscapes of America’s national parks, this fantasy-adventure series for youngsters follows siblings Kodi (voiced by new talent Wacinyeya Iwasaka Yracheta), Summer (newcomer Isis Celilo Rogers) and Eddy (Talon Proc Alford, “Spidey and His Amazing Friends”) of the Chumash and Cowlitz Tribes, who have a shared secret: they’re Spirit Rangers. Able to transform into their respective animal spirits to help protect the national park they call home, the kids take on all kinds of challenges, from helping a lost thunderbird to waking up a sleepy sun. Celebrating community, nature and the rich heritage of Native American storytelling, the series is created by Santa Ynez Chumash tribal member Karissa Valencia (“Vampirina”) and is executive produced by Valencia and Chris Nee (“Doc McStuffins”). The “Spirit Rangers” voice cast also features Jaylan Evans (“Power Book III: Raising Kanan”), Devery Jacobs (“Reservation Dogs”), Cree Summer (“Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” 2001), Wes Studi (“Penny Dreadful”), Tantoo Cardinal (“Stumptown”), Shaun Taylor-Corbett (“Hi-5”), Nyla Rose (“AEW Dynamite”) and new actors Kimberly Guerrero and John Timothy.
