Oh so good: Food Network weekend celebrates all things chocolate
By Andrew Warren TV Media
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and whether or not you’re the romantic type (guilty!), there’s something other than love in the air that anyone can look forward to: all the chocolate.
Milk, white, dark — whatever your chocolate preference — Food Network is sure to feature it during its themed Chocolate Weekend Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10-11.
Several daytime series are shining the spotlight on the amazing ingredient, with each host putting his or her own special spin on tasty things to do with this treat’s versatility.
Take country music superstar
Trisha Yearwood, the host of “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.” She’s having friends over for a girls’ lunch in the Feb. 10 episode and is serving up a meal that could make almost any Valentine’s date happy.

There’s linguine with braised red wine short rib sauce on the menu, served with marinated roasted portobellos. So far no chocolate — but don’t let that fool you. There’s more than enough of the gooey black stuff with dessert, which includes a classic molten chocolate cake with cassis berries, served with even more chocolate in the form of chocolate cherry martinis.
That same day, Ree Drummond makes chocolate treats for her daughter to share with her friends in “The Pioneer Woman.” She whips up chocolate cups topped with sugared orange peels, some double-dipped cookies-and-cream marshmallow treats, and even some chipotle fudge for those who like a little bit of a kick in their chocolatey treats. “The Kitchen” and “Valerie’s Home Cooking” get in on the Valentine’s Day fun, too, with their own sweet and savory dishes that are sure to crank up the romance of any meal.
Giada de Laurentiis takes her turn hosting Sunday, Feb. 11, when she has a few couples over for a

Valentine’s Day get-together around an outdoor firepit in “Giada Entertains.” Chocolate’s on the menu here, too, with gourmet s’mores headlining a meal that she and her guests cook over an open fire.
Romantic or not, who can’t get behind a day that celebrates chocolate? Food Network does Valentine’s Day proud this upcoming weekend.
