Graduation

Brainerd High School Commencement: 7 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Adamson Field. Number of students graduating: 403. Class colors: Brilliant Blue and Stunning Silver. Class flower: Blue orchid. Class motto: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matter compared to what lies within us.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson Quote from Principal Andrea Rusk: “The Brainerd Warrior Class of 2022 is resilient! They have endured COVID, construction, and many other challenges and continue to come through stronger and more determined to reach their goals.”

Future plans: Attend University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to study civil engineering.

Hobbies: Playing/writing music, being outdoors, hanging out with friends, running, reading. Future plans: Attend University of Wisconsin-Madison to study chemical engineering. Memorable high school moment: “There are so many, it’s hard to choose. I would have to say making state in cross-country this fall and playing a solo in Blue Shades at the Showcase Concert this spring.”

Part-time work: Outside service at The Pines Golf Course. Memorable high school moment: “Playing tag in the frozen parking lot of a gas station in Hill City, MN with other members of the Nordic ski team because our bus broke down on the way to a meet. That or the day the school caught on fire and we all got to go home early.”

Memorable high school moment: “Prom 2021 with masks gone as a celebration of a hardfought junior year for us all.”

Hobbies: Hanging out with friends, roller skating, playing video games, bowling. Future plans: Attend University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to study electrical engineering. Part-time work: Best Buy. Memorable high school moment: “All the great times that I have had with my friends in and outside of class, the fun classes I’ve had such as pottery and adventure and challenge, and being able to earn my Eagle Scout for Boy Scouts.”

Hobbies: Staying active, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, being outside, petting dogs. Future plans: Attend the College of St. Scholastica to study biochemistry and pre-med, and racing for Scholastica’s Nordic ski team. Memorable high school moment: “Winning Nordic sections for the first time both individually and as a team.”
