Marmalade Baron (Keery) is a kind-hearted but naive young man living in a small southern town and working as a delivery man to afford medication for his terminally ill mother, Eda (Warner). After Baron loses his job due to his refusal to cut his hair and adhere to the post office’s dress code, he gains hope in the form of the beautiful and eccentric Marmalade (Morrone), a woman with a troubled past. Desperate to obtain his mother’s medication and secure their futures, the two plan a robbery, for which Baron is caught and imprisoned. Sharing a cell with Otis (Hodge), he recounts his story, forming a bond with the escape artist, who knows more about Baron’s predicament than he leads on.
