MUSIC PRECINCT REO

Semester 2 has begun unveiling of the newly named Farley Residence Rooms

AMED TO HONOUR COLLEGE HISTORY

The refurbished L-shaped building has been transformed into a flexible learning space comprising specialist music classrooms, four general-purpose classrooms, staff offices, amenities and improved storage. The redevelopment followed storm damage that affected the original music facilities and provided an opportunity to reimagine how the precinct could best support teaching and learning into the future
As part of the redevelopment, individual instrumental music lessons were moved to dedicated teaching studios on the upper floor of Braemar House, ensuring the continuity of the College's music program The newly updated space features floor-to-ceiling, double-glazed windows and split-system air conditioning, providing larger, more versatile areas that accommodate classroom music, ensembles, percussion groups, and co-curricular activities.
The four general-purpose classrooms have been named the Farley Residence Rooms, recognising the important history of this part of the campus. Originally constructed in the 1950s as the Principal's residence and Senior Boarders dormitories for the former Clyde School for Girls, the building later became home to Braemar College's founding Principal, Mr Graham Farley and his familiy, following the College's establishment in 1976. The naming acknowledges the Farley family's enduring contribution to the College and preserves an important link with Braemar's history.
Some minor works, including additional storage in the music foyer, are still being completed.
My sincere thanks go to Mr Brad Sims, the team from LynJos, and our College Maintenance and IT Teams for their outstanding work in ensuring the precinct was ready for students and staff at the commencement of Semester 2.
